Harrell is an intimidating presence in the middle of the net. I’ve been able to confirm that watching her compete at the club level. The senior looked to have taken another step forward in her development when watching her in person at the Iowa City High tournament early in the 2026 season. She helped the Bulldogs finish second in the event with wins against the host, Regina, Burlington and Lewis Central. Harrell is improving her block, an aspect of her game she’s been impactful at for awhile. Her biggest growth has come in her attack. Harrell is athletic and can quickly get up for the attack. When she rises up on traditional sets, the power terminates points with authority. Harrell is a prospect with a good amount of upside as well. Expect her to flourish at Simpson next year and beyond.

After what I saw at Iowa Sizzle, I’ve concluded that Reece Harrell Reece Harrell 5'11" | MB/RS Bettendorf | 2027 State IA has got to be a hitter’s worst nightmare. She was making it almost impossible for any hitter to get past her. She was quick to react on her block and was able to take up plenty of space. In addition to her amazing blocks, Harrell also did a fantastic job making contact with the ball sometimes before her blockers even got up. While she’s on the court, it’s going to make it very tough for hitters to score against Bettendorf.

Bettendorf has been in the shadows of other schools in the MAC, like North Scott, PV, and Assumption. However, some pieces were brought in, and players stepped up, and Harrell was one of those players. With a heavy arm and a monster block, she was a major asset for the Bulldogs. She has also found great success with her Iowa Select team in the 2026 season. Harrell will even be competing in the USA division at the GJNC starting on 6/30.

I was impressed with Harrell when watching her compete for Bettendorf this past season. The junior flashed versatility in being able to help the Bulldogs in the middle and at the opposite pin. It resulted in 57 kills and 46.0 blocks in 74 sets. When watching her again at the 2026 Nike President’s Day Classic in St. Louis, Harrell was rotating through the middle for a Select 17 Mizuno outfit that finished fifth out of 32 teams in the open division. She’s a physical presence at the net with a powerful attack generated from a heavy swing. Long arms help her in that endeavor and in throwing up an effective block. Harrell shows good timing and sharp reads when trying to stop the opposing attack. She looks like a prospect with more potential that will continue reaching for it with more reps.
