Ten Versatile Gems to Follow in Nebraska 2028 Rankings

We're all about players who can do it all.   Our coverage of the Nebraska 2028 rankings update will talk a lot about how players' skills translate to the next level. Luckily, athletes can find numerous ways to exhibit traits that prime them for collegiate impact. Players are often multiple positions rolled into one.   Versatility is one of our favorite talking points of these post-release features, and we're returning to the well once more. Here are a few of our multi-position picks in the rising junior class.    This is the perfect torchbearer for a group of do-everything athletes. Solomon has dazzled audiences throughout her Premier Nebraska tenure, and she has done it in every way imaginable. Her rocket arm on the right pin has made her a persistent attacking force in the frontcourt. But, of course, Solomon also combines this with some quick, snappy decisions as a back-row signal-caller. We wouldn't expect anything less from the Solomon lineage, and this 2028 iteration will chase another state title this fall.     Jacobsen hasn't been out of the spotlight for long. She's fresh off an all-showcase performance at last month's Omaha outing on the Prep Dig Circuit. That event provided a stark reminder of Jacobsen's court vision and overwhelming power. Her work with VCNebraska 16 Elite put Jacobsen's middle prowess into focus as her team battled to a 16 Open berth. However, this York junior may take up a pin role to maximize her volume with the Dukes this fall. It's a strategy that yielded over 350 kills during Jacobsen's spectacular sophomore season.     Duchesne rolled out a youthful lineup last fall, allowing players like Sonntag to compile valuable reps on the Omaha circuit. She has put a lid on the net throughout her prep career, both with the Cardinals and Nebraska Elite. Aside from being a statistically productive blocker last fall, Sonntag has also proven her terminal potential on both sides of the setter. We're ready to see what her upperclassman era will offer.     This is a can't-miss terminator no matter where she patrols the net. Fiscus's stock exploded in Year 2 with Fremont, where she led the charge with four kills per set from the outside. We had seen Fiscus explore various frontcourt roles in her early days, but she's likely eyeing a long-term presence on the pin. Her explosiveness with Nebraska ONE 16 Titanium seemed to confirm that migration, and Fiscus racked up a head-turning onslaught of summer swings through AAU Nationals.     Muller set a high bar last fall as she marched to the state title with Milford. Like many of her Nebraska ONE peers, Muller has shown a willingness to do anything necessary to win. Her distribution skills have shone on the club side, but Muller also packs some serious heat as a pin hitter. The latter was her primary niche with Milford, as she compiled over 200 kills on a 0.263 clip. Muller will be eager to rewrite narratives again this fall, even if the ultimate goal with Milford remains the same.     We're witnessing the rise of all-around ball control stars who can anchor first and second contacts. That brings us to Pohlman, a Stanton junior who has made her mark as a setter and a defensive specialist. Her tenure with the Mustangs has been ever-changing, from Pohlman's first-year attacking role to her sophomore season as the starting setter. Fittingly, she completed the trifecta through her defensive work with Omaha Fusion. This positional range is remarkable.     Add one more setter-opposite to the fray. Last year's Norfolk Catholic crew returned to state tournament form behind Wemhoff's multi-dimensional leadership. We've had glimpses of her ball control prowess, but Wemhoff has proven to be the go-to hammer that elite teams need. She averaged nearly four kills per set from the outside and established a permanent foothold around the rotational dial.     We could draw from a whole host of VCNebraska standouts for this feature. Today's spotlight falls on Valish, a springy outside hitter who has also compiled an impressive tape as a primary passer. As if this dual role wasn't enough, Valish has also hovered between both pins throughout her time with VCNebraska 16 Black. A strong charge at USAV Nationals has primed Valish for another big campaign with Malcolm, a state semifinalist last fall.     This fall's Omaha Westside squad will boast plenty of physicality and a few different lineup possibilities, too. Martin expands those permutations through her work as a middle-opposite hybrid. Her imposing length was a treat to watch with River City Jrs 16 Red, which made a deep run at Show Me and earned a Nebraska Showdown title.     We'll wrap up with one of the most prominent stat-stuffing stars on the small-town prep scene. Kreikemeier is the kind of pin hitter you can't take off the court. She churned out over 200 kills for Guardian Angels Central Catholic last fall, but that's just the beginning of Kreikemeier's statistical output. Her whopping 4.2 digs per set is an average that rivals any defensive specialist in the 2028 ranks.
