Omaha Duchesne has put up some impressive team-wide blocking numbers this fall, so we had a big list of worthy Cardinals to choose from. We’re going with Sonntag, the show-stopping sophomore who made considerable gains during this spring’s club campaign with Nebraska Elite. Duchesne’s physical frontcourt has formed its focal point in the middle, where Sonntag is putting up 1.3 blocks per set and several more positive touches. The Cardinals have leaned on Sonntag’s knack for reading opposing setters–a skill that has progressed well beyond her years. More highlight-worthy blocks are in her future.

Sonntag brings unmatched physicality and length to this feature. She oscillated between middle blocker and opposite for Nebraska Elite 15 Koa and was a shutdown defender in either role. We got an early glimpse at Sonntag’s blocking range when she led Omaha Duchesne in the category during her debut high school season. She then found her groove as an attacker while 15 Koa sparred with the nation’s best squads at the Open level. Sonntag’s incredible ceiling cemented her early spot in our 2028 rankings.
