Texas HS: Fulshear overcome Dawson in exciting non-district match

The encounters lived up to the expectations and had Fulshear coming back twice to win 3-2 (16-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-20, 15-8).</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/grtorres/status/2089881438250213739?s=20 </div></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Players of the Match</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">The senior middle stepped up in key moments of the match for Fulshear, making an incredible impact from the service line. Voskuhl had a fantastic serving run in the second set that prompted an incredible comeback for the Chargers, getting multiple aces along the way, and also had good moments in sets four and five. She wasn't much involved in Fulshear's offense at the start of the match, when their passing was a little bit inconsistent, but got going after that and became an important scoring weapon for them with her powerful swings. Voskuhl was also active with her blocking, getting a few stuffs and touching on many balls at the net.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/grtorres/status/2089859573821710620?s=20 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Like most of her teammates, Ezebuilo had a difficult first set, but her game improved a lot after that. The junior was moved from right side to outside hitter and became a pillar in Fulshear's game, playing consistently on both sides of the ball. Ezebuilo was extremely important offensively for her team, using her firepower and her ability to find nice angles to put the ball down in system and out of system, while also making very few errors. She also produced well in serve-receive, showing confidence and ball control to deal with the serves that went her way.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/08/2J4A0055_a2baea.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1020564" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Goodwin was another Fulshear player who managed to significantly improve her playing level throughout the match. Even though she was one of the top players on the team in the first set, the sophomore outside hitter raised her game and played a major role in their comeback. Goodwin's offense, in particular, was truly remarkable, as she made the most of her high contact point and vision to score at a good rate from both the left and the right. The pin hitter was impeccable in the fifth set, putting down the balls she was set, performing consistently in serve-receive and getting an early ace that helped the Chargers create some separation right from the start.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/grtorres/status/2089877843584983130?s=20 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">A new player on the team this season, the sophomore stepped up for the Chargers, moving from her usual libero position to play setter as Fulshear missed two of their playmakers due to injury. Pham and fellow setter Peyton Nedd did a good job of adjusting their strategy throughout the match and getting their middles more involved offensively as the passing allowed. The team's distribution was well-balanced and made the most of its attacking options, keeping all hitters engaged and productive. Pham also performed well in the back row, coming up with great digs and solid serving.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/08/2J4A0036_28f5d6.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1020558" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">The sophomore was a key piece in Dawson's playing system and had a big role in the team's best moments in the match. Koonsen kept their offense running at a strong rhythm with her intelligent distribution and creative playmaking. The setter was excellent from the service line, making a big impact with her top spin jump serve, which had both power and precision and was very reliable. Koonsen also made good plays at the net, showing excellent vision to side out on the right and a strong blocking presence.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/08/2J4A0076_c7d68e.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1020576" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">The freshman did very well as Dawson's starting libero, splitting duties with senior [player_tooltip player_id='577775' first='Jenna' last='Hussein']. Thedford demonstrated a very mature and well-developed game, which allowed her to perform well even in moments of pressure. Her quickness and excellent ball control made of her a very reliable player when passing and playing defense, and helped her recover balls on the back row. Thedford also did well when she had to set in transition plays, showing good consistency with her locations.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/08/2J4A0023_08c23b.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1020553" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">The senior outside hitter was Dawson's go-to scorer and thrived in the role, leading the team's offense. Ifems made the most of her impressive firepower to consistently put the ball down, be it by finding ways around the block or by tooling it. She also offered her team a strong blocking presence at the pin, getting a few stuffs throughout the match.
