Texas HS Matches to Watch – Week 3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Texas high school volleyball season began earlier this month, when the first matches of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) took place in every corner of the Lone Star State, kicking off a four-month period of excitement for young players in the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Texas continues to provide the best high school volleyball coverage in the state, attending multiple matches every week and consistently featuring the players and teams who deliver strong results on the court and pave their way to appearing in the State Tournament.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This season, in addition to providing match coverage, we also have weekly previews, presenting matches set to take place over the next few days in different regions of the state with the potential to be truly exciting.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These are the duels you should keep an eye out for in week three of the season:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Richland vs. Frisco</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>When:</strong>&nbsp;Tuesday, August 25, at @ 6:30 PM<br><strong>Where:</strong>&nbsp;Richland HS<br><strong>Why:</strong> Two teams from North Dallas with identical win records (14-3) look to continue progressing as the start of district play nears. Coming from a strong 7-2 campaign at the Granbury tournament last week, the Richland Raiders rely on the scoring power of junior outside hitter Reese Mahar and have a young and talented setter duo in sophomore Baylee Hardy and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='952583' first='Kennedy' last='Jefferson']. Another sophomore, middle Amoha Ramanathan is one to watch. The Frisco Raccons enter Tuesday's matches having won five of their last six tournament matches. Senior outside hitter Summer Guerrero has been excellent for them so far, while junior outside hitter Heidi Clauss appears well on both sides of the ball, senior [player_tooltip player_id='402434' first='Madison' last='Wolf'] calls the shots at setter and senior Savannah Christian is their starting libero.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tivy vs. Dripping Springs</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>When:</strong> Tuesday, August 25, at @ 7 PM<br><strong>Where:</strong> Tivy HS<br><strong>Why:</strong> Two talented teams from the Big Austin-San Antonio region go against each other in what should be a competitive non-district match. The Tivy Antlers have a 13-5 win record for the season and have competed in tournaments in the last two weeks. All-around senior setter [player_tooltip player_id='845085' first='Rylie' last='Coates'] is very impactul with contributions across the board for them, while senior outside hitter Lily Gonzalez, senior middle Danica Blaker and senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='525986' first='Rylan' last='Adams'] are other key pieces for them. The Dripping Sprins Tiger, who accumulate 14 wins and seven losses, have senior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='804475' first='Madison' last='Sestak'], sophomore setter [player_tooltip player_id='920246' first='Kate' last='Rapp'], senior libero Alexa Sandoval and senior middle/right side [player_tooltip player_id='482092' first='Liv' last='Hauerland'] forming the core of their team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lutheran South Academy vs. Fort Bend Christian Academy</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>When:</strong>&nbsp;Thursday, August 27, at @ 6 PM<br><strong>Where:</strong>&nbsp;Lutheran South Academy<br><strong>Why:</strong> Two of the strong and most traditional private high school volleyball programs in the Houston area face off. The Lutheran South Academy Pioneers have a 10-6 win record for the season and one of the most promising players in the state in junior setter [player_tooltip player_id='731168' first='Addison' last='Musgrove']. Junior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='804617' first='Megan' last='Schwanbeck'] and senior outside hitter Carissa Honore do a great job of converting her sets into points, while junior [player_tooltip player_id='791764' first='Charlie' last='Marsico'] keeps the team in system at the libero position. The Fort Bend Christian Academy Eagles have a 6-2-1 record for the season so far. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='662610' first='Madison' last='Jinks'] and senior [player_tooltip player_id='839637' first='Tanner' last='Tell'] carry their offense from the outside hitter position, junior middle [player_tooltip player_id='824463' first='Juliet' last='Demarr'] brings a physical presence at the net and junior libero [player_tooltip player_id='573317' first='Addison' last='Crist'] leads the back row.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
