Connections are strong.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That thought was the impetus behind developing these scouting-report/photo pieces a few seasons ago to act as yearbook pages. I've written as many of them as I could based on watching teams play in person. Hopefully, they capture that squad in words and pictures, and can be accessed years down the road.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Today, we look at Bettendorf, who I watched play at the Iowa City High tournament in early September after a viewing it at the Prep Dig Sizzle about a month earlier. The Bulldogs finished second to Ankeny Centennial at the Little Hawk event, logging a 4-1 record with wins against the host, Burlington, Lewis Central and Regina before falling to the Jaguars.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bettendorf lost a lot of production to graduation and is missing one of its top returners, [player_tooltip player_id='575805' first='Dyllan' last='Harn'], who is sidelined with an injury. She was a wide-eyed sophomore, but one with confidence. That belief in herself has remained present and certainly was in the house when watching her back at the Little Hawk event early in the this campaign. Ramstack was holding it down on defense and in serve-receive, igniting the transition game leading to a potent Bulldog attack. The team finished second to Ankeny Centennial with a 4-1 record. Ramstack, a Missouri-St. Louis commitment, helped get Bettendorf humming with her passing, serve-receive and leadership in keeping the squad connected. That potential was being realized in a major way back at the event early in the 2026 campaign. The versatile attacker was terminating points in an impactful way. There's serious explosion off of the court, a big-time vertical leap and power in the swing. Wilson has a good idea what she wants to do while hitting and the natural ability allows time to consider her options while in the air. She showed an ability to swing with effectiveness from both pins. Wilson is developing as a blocker with a chance to make a difference there. You could see the breakout coming when watching her compete with Bettendorf at the Prep Dig Sizzle in early August. She confirmed it was happening when scouting her again at the Iowa City High tournament early in the 2026 season. Amman was hitting efficiently in the event that saw the Bulldogs grab second place with wins against the host, Burlington, Lewis Central and Regina. She stood out for her explosion off of the court, lift on the jump and power generated in a heavy swing. Amman does well reading the block and finding the best ways to attack it. She can push through it, execute hits around it and knock the ball off of it. I've been able to confirm that watching her compete at the club level. The senior looked to have taken another step forward in her development when watching her in person at the Iowa City High tournament early in the 2026 season. She helped the Bulldogs finish second in the event with wins against the host, Regina, Burlington and Lewis Central. Harrell is improving her block, an aspect of her game she's been impactful at for awhile. Her biggest growth has come in her attack. Harrell is athletic and can quickly get up for the attack. When she rises up on traditional sets, the power terminates points with authority. Harrell is a prospect with a good amount of upside as well.
