Scouting Reports, Photos: Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays

Connections are strong.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That thought was the impetus behind developing these scouting-report/photo pieces a few seasons ago to act as yearbook pages. I've written as many of them as I could based on watching teams play in person. Hopefully, they capture that squad in words and pictures, and can be accessed years down the road.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Today, we look at Bondurant-Farrar, who I watched compete at the Benton Bobcat Invitational last weekend. The Bluejays reached the event semifinals with wins against North Scott and the host school. She took her game up a notch this past club season when watching her on the circuit. The Bondurant-Farrar junior was at it again when I saw her at the Benton Bobcat Invitational last weekend. Hanson was hammering down on the ball with a heavy left swing. She can easily power through the block when getting a clean look. Improved reading of the block and playing off of it it is something Hanson continues improving. I liked what I saw during the club season when watching her play in person. She'd taken a step forward with her all-around game. That was the case again when seeing her at the Benton Bobcat Invitational last week. Fried stands out for her versatility. The junior was putting the ball down from the pin and also terminating the ball from the middle of the net. She's tall with long arms and good leaping ability, which helps her swing over top of the block and throw up an effective block herself. The juniors were contributing all around the court when I saw the Bluejays compete at the Benton Bobcat Invitational last weekend. Holtkamp was successfully operating through six rotations as they reached the event semifinals before losing to a top 5A team in Dallas Center-Grimes. Holtkamp distinguishes herself with athleticism. She can get up on her vertical leap and create power in her swing. The 11th-grader plays good defense at the net and agility aids in holding up strong in the back row. Her platform is sound, and there's skill in serve-receive. She looked to be realizing it when watching her operate within the Bondurant-Farrar 6-2 at the Benton Bobcat Invitational last weekend. The junior was doing a wonderful job setting up the Bluejay attack when in the matches. Harms is a good athlete that flows around the court smoothly, settling into spots to deliver the ball precisely for a powerful attack. She makes good decisions with the ball and has a knack for finding hitters with advantages on the defense. The quickness and agility also help Harms defend in the back row.
