Texas Halloween Horror Stories – Accomplices to Kills V1

Since it is Halloween, we are going to continue our Halloween Horror Story Series. The next players up are the ones who set up the hitters for kills…Setters. Texas is arguably one of the best offensive states in the nation and if you are leading the thousands of players here in any statistical category, that says a lot. Let's take a look at the following senior assist leaders from the Lone Star State.

Logan has been running an offense since she was a freshman and it shows in every decision she makes. The Canyon senior leads all Texas setters with 1,250 assists through 125 sets. That follows a junior season of 1,405 assists that earned her a spot on the Texas Sports Writers Association 6A All-State team. At 5'6" she wins with footwork rather than size. She gets to her target early and squares up, which keeps her hands quiet and her location consistent from pin to pin. She plays defense like a libero and it shows up on the other side of the ball. She dug 351 balls last season and is just as comfortable chasing down a shanked pass as she is running a quick to the middle. She is also a weapon from the end line and served 68 aces as a junior. Rutgers knows exactly who they have in her when she arrives on campus next year. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

The highest assist average on this list belongs to [player_tooltip player_id='1053221' first='Emma' last='Sauceda']. The Andrews senior is putting up 10.6 assists per set and has 1,209 on the season. Her best night came against Greenwood when she dished out 56 assists in a five set win. She is feeding her attackers very well. Sauceda delivers a consistent ball to the antenna and gives her hitters the chance to swing at full speed. She stays involved on defense too and had 19 digs in a sweep of Fort Stockton. Her serve might be her most dangerous weapon. She led her team with 80 aces last season and served nine more in a win over Compass Academy this fall. She is also a varsity golfer and the focus that sport demands carries over to how calm she stays in tight sets. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

[program_tooltip program_id='432171' first='Air' last='Force'] landed a setter who can beat you in more ways than most. [player_tooltip player_id='845085' first='Rylie' last='Coates'] stands 6'0" and that height changes what a defense has to respect. She has 1,151 assists at 10.0 per set, the third most among Texas seniors. She has played right side and middle in the past and she is a real threat to attack on two. She was hitting .375 earlier this season. Her block is a weapon as well and she takes away the line with a strong and well formed seal at the net. In one week this fall she put up 203 assists with 43 kills to earn San Antonio Express-News Player of the Week. She also made the all tournament team at the Northside and North East ISD Tournament that same week. Coates is a team captain and her ability to score on her own keeps opposing middles honest. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone you think we should watch out for, please shoot me an email with some info at Michael@prepdig.com. You can also DM me in Instagram and X by searching @CoachMikeDZ. Also don't forget to help these kids get more exposure by sharing our stories with your friends. Help us help them by simply retweeting on Twitter or sharing on Facebook. Thanks for following us, Prep Dig Texas Family! Don't be afraid to interact with us. We love the likes, shares, and quotes/comments. Keep them coming!
