Arizona Freshman Showcase Preview

There is more information in the article below, and here is a link to the event page:&nbsp;<a href="https://events.prepdig.com/e/2278/register?nocache=1">https://events.prepdig.com/e/2278/register?nocache=1</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We are super excited for all 4 of our events that are coming to the Mesa during that weekend of Aug 1st-2nd. We currently have over 150 girls registers between the 4 events with 3 weeks still to go! We get a lot of questions about rankings and what is a way to get higher in the rankings.. well one of the best ways is to be at one of these showcases against girls that are your peers that are fighting to move up in the rankings as well. We will be there evaluating you against peers your age and you can make a very loud statement during this showcase about why you should be ranked higher. This is a golden opportunity to demonstrate and show the Prepdig team what you are capable of! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Although we are excited to see all the athletes during this event, I wanted to highlight 5 who I am looking forward to seeing live at the event! Either because I didn't get to see them live as much as I wanted to, or because I think these are going to be some athletes who will move up the rankings after an impressive showing at the showcase. She has really come a long ways with her offensive game, and can really run a lot of different sets along the front row. She has a wide range with her attacking as well, being able to the deep corners or sharper angles when it is called upon. She is also someone who puts up a very big block, and can take up a lot of space with her blocking. Most importantly she has a great ability to transition efficiently from blocking to offense makes herself a reliable scoring option in the middle. Makenna is someone who is in the top 25 at the moment and one of the best 5 middles in her class. She is firmly on our radar and we can't wait to see how she does against other girls in her class. She is a outside hitter who has a lot of great tools to her game and has a chance to make some great leaps in her game over the next year. She is a force on offense and shows a lot of aggressiveness to her game in that regard. She doesn't shy away from swinging into a block and does a great job tooling, hitting through, and just over powering defenses when she plays. Sophie on defense has displayed excellent court awareness and is someone who is fast and agile enough to make great transitions between passing and loading on the pin. She is already built like a great pin hitter as she has the length and vertical to have the explosiveness needed to be on the pin. She is someone who has a fast arm swing, strong approach, along with pretty good technique to load and attack on the pin. She has the potential to become a go-to offensive weapon as she continue to refine her game but is someone who at our showcase will thrive being a go to option in our format. Sofia is able to contribute with her defense and serve receive as well, being able to showcase at our event the ability to go 6 rotations and be a force at the net with her blocking as well. She has a lot of great tools already at her disposable for someone so young and can contribute in a number of ways to help a team win. She helps with her offense, blocking, and all around defense when needed. One of the better things Harlow does is she possess a quick/explosive approach along with a fast arm swing, that allows her to score a ton from either pin. She also seems very comfortable in both in-system and out-of-system situations which is a tough skill to have as a 14 year old. She is fast and athletic and someone who I think is only going to get better with time and practice. She has some great physical tools and combined with her explosiveness is really going to make her into a good player in the years to come. For starters she is very quick and has excellent athletic movement that helps her get her feet to a ton of balls in serve receive and defense. It also helps that Callie sees the game very well and her anticipation and court IQ really helps with her movement as she can see a lot of things before it is happening. She also does well with her body control to get her arms in a great position to pass the ball whenever she is contacting the ball as well. She does well in defense with her angles and pursuit of the ball when it is called upon and transitions well between serve receive, to defense, to coverage as well. Overall, she is someone who is on our radar right now, and will have a chance to really show us that she should be on of the top 10 liberos in her class.
