Jackson Reed’s record with the big dogs outside their conference (Flint Hill, Holy Cross, Bullis and Georgetown Visitation) sits at 0-4 (1-12) but against local DC teams they are still the top team at 11-0. One of the players responsible for that continued D.C. domination is frosh Sofia Fuentes Hawketts Sofia Fuentes Hawketts 5'11" | MB Jackson-Reed | 2030 State VA , who leads the team in kills to go along with a .329 hitting percentage. As a middle she also ties for the lead in blocks.

Prior to her arrival the Tigers were considered a pretty good volleyball team. Last year they were 15-0 against local teams. The hope is that with her maturation as a player they will be more competitive outside the DC area. Perhaps even a second DC state championship is within their grasp.

She stood out at our most recent Prep Dig Showcase winning a top performer award. Our prediction was that she brought the tools to make the varsity at Jackson Reed. Not only did she make the varsity but she leads the Tigers in kills with an impressive .375 hitting percentage.

Sofia lists as both a middle and an outside. At the showcase she showed the ability to pass and play defense which would make her suitable for an outside role. Currently she lists at 5’11”.

Sofia ranks at number 13 in our class of 2030. Prep Dig included her name as a frosh on the verge of making an explosive impact. Consider that now a fact.

Sofia wowed me early at the DMV Prep Dig showcase. This was the first time I watched her play. Anyone that powers the ball to the floor in queens play gets my attention. Extremely athletic which could open up an outside position for her. She showed the ability to pass and play defense, which wastes that ability when she plays middle.

Sofia will play for Jackson Reed, which is clearly the top public school in DC. They lost in the finals of the DC state playoffs to Georgetown Day last year. Jackson Reed has middle Annika Warren Annika Warren 6'2" | MB/RS The Potomac School | 2029 State VA on their roster. She also plays for Paramount 15 Nick, which competed in Open last year. The Tigers biggest loss from graduation appears to come from the outside hitters. They seem to have a lot of depth at the middle. More reason to move Sofia to an outside position.
