Upon seeing her again at this year's event, I'm convinced she's among the state's most entertaining volleyballer players to watch. It comes with a ton of production, too. A three-year starter, Grimm has appeared in all 151 Union Community High matches since arriving as a freshman in 2023. She's amassed 934 kills, 718 digs and 97.0 blocks. The numbers tell the story of a kid with prodigious power at the pin with the quickness and skill to hold it down in the back row. If we had to do that, Haller would be a setter. But her talents allow contributions well beyond that spot, where she stands out for precise sets and excellent decisions. Haller is a heck of a hitter, too. Comfortable swinging from either pin, she flashes an impressive vertical leap and power. She's smart reading the block and playing off of it. Haller is reliable in the back row, holding up well in serve-receive and standing up against tough attacks. Her play at the Prep Dig Iowa Sizzle in early August provided evidence she might be accessing even more in 2026. The senior put the ball down with authority, showing she could hit line and expose holes in the defense. It's a big vertical and a heavy swing. Loria still is working through getting comfortable in the back row, but the ability is present for her to become reliable there. She just needs the reps after not playing club volleyball this year. The Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Adrenaline product is a steady, reliable, two-way presence in the middle of the net. I was reminded of that when watching her and the Cougars mix it up at the Prep Dig Iowa Sizzle in early August. Phillips flashed her usual feel for match flow, keenly reading the opposing attack and getting into position for blocks. She alters a lot of swings that aren't blocked, protecting the back row and aiding her team in staying in system. Phillips has made the biggest strides with her swing. She's added power and sees where to attack defenses quicker these days. I received an opportunity at the Prep Dig Iowa Sizzle in early August. Only a sophomore, she was leading a young Davenport Central squad at the event. Like she did in helping Iowa Select 14 Mizuno capture a regional title last year, Moore was getting the job done through six rotations. She has advanced power at the pin for a sophomore, generating it with explosion off of the court, rising up with a big vertical and following through with a heavy swing. Moore can hit her spots and locate soft areas in the defense. She reads the ball well in serve-receive and does an overall sound job in the back row.
