These three pairings worked extremely well together in 2019 and will probably be even sharper when the next season starts.
Michelle Fast Michelle Fast 5'8" | S Lake Stevens | 2021 State WA and Samaya Morin Samaya Morin 6'1" | OH Lake Stevens | 2021 State WA – Lake Stevens
Lake Stevens wouldn’t probably have advanced all the way to the State Championship final last year if the chemistry between setter Michelle Fast Michelle Fast 5'8" | S Lake Stevens | 2021 State WA and outside hitter Samaya Morin Samaya Morin 6'1" | OH Lake Stevens | 2021 State WA wasn’t so strong. The duo did a great job in combining offensively and both players reaped the benefits of their successful campaign as Fast was the seventh player with the most assists in the state (714) while Morin ranked 11th in hitting efficiency at .377. The performance made of Morin a 4A Class All-State first-team choice and earned Fast an honorable mention in their junior season. Unsurprisingly, they’re both ranked in the top-25 of prepdig.com’s class of 2021 ranking.
Abbie Helmes and Katie Kogler – Firm Foundation Christian
To have a middle-blocker as the state’s second-best hitter is no easy task, but Firm Foundation Christian accomplished it in 2019. Junior Katie Kogler was nearly unstoppable in the middle of the net, registering a .433 efficiency rate and also had the eight-most kills in the state – 389. The performance, which made of the 6’0” hitter a member of the 1B Class All-State Team, was only possible due to the great work of fellow Junior setter Abbie Helmes, who had a team-high 295 assists. The duo will be back for their senior season looking to improve their chemistry even further.
Roxy Dickerson and Ashlynn Archer – St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse
The connection between junior setter Roxy Dickerson and sophomore outside hitter Ashlynn Archer was a bright spot in St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse’s inconsistent campaign in 2019. The hitter was a standout and led the team’s offensive efforts last year with impressive hitting efficiency (.381), good enough for the eighth-best mark in the state, while Dickerson orchestrated the team’s offense magnificently with 449 assists, ranking 33rd in the entire state.
