Day One Notables at Kentucky Challenge involving 21 teams

The 21 teams consisting of one from Florida, three from Tennessee and the final 17 from Kentucky all still played two games Friday. The ones in pools with two teams remaining played each other then a team from another pool. Monaghan executes a variety of short and long sets, including back sets. Monaghan does not lock her arms on those sets. Monaghan puts across sound jump serves and paints back lines with them for quick points. Franzen has a nice vertical jump and is extremely aggressive at the net. She works well with teammates to form sound double blocks. Franzen made a heads up push to the corner for a big point in the first game Friday against Dunbar. Martha has good connections with the Dunbar hitters, consistently putting them in great position to succeed. Martha steps to balls and makes sound passes. She helps the Bison control the net a number of ways. Mitchell records nice, timely double blocks working well with teammates. Mitchell has turned into a solid swing blocker. She takes sound line swings and tools blocks. Yates gets on top of balls and pounds out hard crosses on a regular basis from the middle and pins.
