Franzen battled through some injuries this year, but still managed to put together a sound season for NewCath. Franzen is a six-rotation and finds ways to produce at all six spots on the court. Franzen stops her feet and makes precise passes in the back row. She takes calculated swings from the middle and pins. Franzen also pokes balls to sides away from defensive specialists. Franzen had 118 kills, 11 solo blocks and 33 assisted blocks for NewCath in the fall.

Franzen (pictured) dominated on the junior varsity level last fall and hopes to continue the momentum from club season into this fall. She has a great arm swing sending balls to different directions from the middle and the pins. Franzen said she has improved closing on her blocks and it showed during club season. From a leadership standpoint, Franzen said the team is running different routes and Franzen is helping her teammates figure out where to go.

Franzen continues to display marked improvement throughout club season. That includes big improvements with her speed. She is a good swing blocker trying to disrupt things at the net and takes sound swings. Franzen goes up with a purpose and swings hard sending balls to different parts of the court. She also has a tough sinking line drive serve.

Franzen dominated the junior varsity for the Thoroughbreds in the fall and is trying to carry over that success to club. She hopes to improve her speed to make an impact at the varsity level in the fall. She takes good swings and moves well at the net to be effective on blocks. Franzen also has a nice sinking serve that landed some aces Sunday.
