Continue ReadingFirst, it was the Class of 2020 missing the typical milestones of “normal” prom, graduation, and all the lasts. But what about the Class of 2021? This pandemic has caused plenty of uncertainty which started the school year off with no fall volleyball. An alternative fall season to be played in the spring which then brought up questions of, “What about club volleyball?”, “What about multisport athletes?”. Plenty of “What ifs”. However, the MSHSL did a quick pivot which resulted in volleyball being back, it’s here and games are set to begin. The Class of 2021 is back on the court and here are a few Seniors who will be more than happy to sing their final swan song to cap off their prep volleyball career.
Kennedi Orr Kennedi Orr 6'0" | S Eagan | 2021 State MN – Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”]
Orr has been playing for the Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] varsity volleyball team since 4th grade – not really, but with all the matches she’s played it may seem like it. She has been in the rotation since her 7th grade year, teaming up with her sister Brie who is playing at Iowa. Orr has medaled at the state, national, and even international level. She will head to Nebraska at semester to start what can be another decorated dynasty, but first, she will look to lead Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] one step further in capping it all off with a Class AAA state title.
Abby Stark Abby Stark 5'7" | DS/L Willmar | 2021 State MN – Willmar
Stark has to be so pumped to get back on the court. She plays with passion, high IQ, and has a certain grit for the game. Willmar has always been so solid and so close to cracking the top eight in getting to the “X”. Stark will be leading this squad as a libero, but she really could play anywhere they need her. The North Dakota State commit is part of a really powerful recruiting class who will be playing for the Bison, but she has unfinished business to attend to first.
Kira Fallert Kira Fallert 5'11" | OH Concordia Academy | 2021 State MN of @nlightsvball 16-1 so solid in all six rotations. Positive body language, smiles, gets the job done…and hits some crazy angles from the pin.

Kira Fallert Kira Fallert 5'11" | OH Concordia Academy | 2021 State MN – Concordia Academy
Fallert has played in plenty of state tournaments and has been a steady and consistent force for Corncordia throughout her whole career. Solid defender, dependable in serve receive and can hit every angle in the book. Concordia should be a favorite in Class AA, but so are a few other high powered squads. She is a great combo with fellow Senior setter, Brooke Weichbrodt Brooke Weichbrodt 5'10" | S Concordia Academy | 2021 State MN . Fallert will head to Missouri Valley Conference power, Northern Iowa who has started to build quite the pipeline to Minnesota with four athletes who are freshmen and sophomores on their roster, including Olivia Tjernagel Olivia Tjernagel 6'2" | OH Mayer Lutheran | 2020 State MN who was a force to be reckoned with for Mayer Lutheran.
Class of 2021 rising prospect Elizabeth Dille Elizabeth Dille 5'11" | OH Sartell-St. Josephs | 2021 State MN finishes it off for @kandielite pic.twitter.com/u1cZ3f4Rdz

Elizabeth Dille Elizabeth Dille 5'11" | OH Sartell-St. Josephs | 2021 State MN – Sartell-St. Joeseph
Dille is one of the hidden, maybe not so hidden gems outside of the metro. Long, athletic, and a major point scorer. Dille will be heading to Green Bay, who were champions of the Horizon League and have had success with Minnesota prep’s with Taylor Wolf (Waconia) and Anna Eaton (New Prague). Dille is another six rotation outside who needs to be involved in every play and has the ability to score points from anywhere on the court.
Ryley Frye Ryley Frye 5'10" | S Robbinsdale Armstrong | 2021 State MN of @nlightsvball 17-1 at the College Camps at @TCVolleyballNIT – Uncommitted 2021 setter – would be a HUGE get at the next level. Great athleticism and well trained coming from NL. pic.twitter.com/gExksCHv9d

Ryley Frye Ryley Frye 5'10" | S Robbinsdale Armstrong | 2021 State MN and Kiya Durant Kiya Durant 5'11" | MB Robbinsdale Armstrong | 2021 State MN – Robbinsdale-Armstrong
Hard to believe these athletes I saw as sophomores for the first time are suiting up for their Senior year. They have evolved their game, have made post season runs, and have made a name for themselves and Robbinsdale-Artmstrong. Frye is the athletic setter who is so dynamic and Durant is a physical middle blocker who can really take over a game. She will head to Minnesota State-Mankato to play her college volleyball.
Karsee Kampsen Karsee Kampsen 5'5" | S Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa | 2021 State MN – BBE
I saw Kampsen play live for the first time at the SW Minnesota Challenge when they were taking on the big metro schools. She was so smooth with her ability to defend, set, and be offensive with a lefty handed setter attack. She’s been a key part of their success and will look to get back to a state tournament once again solidifying even more a legacy she has established.
Ava Moes Ava Moes 6'3" | RS Lakeville South | 2021 State MN just putting a hurt on the ball for @LSHS_VB pic.twitter.com/6rQiRhnkt5

Ava Moes Ava Moes 6'3" | RS Lakeville South | 2021 State MN – Lakeville South
Moes is another who jumped on the radar to me her Sophomore year playing for Lakeville South in Marshall at the SW Minnesota Challenge. Her strength, physicality and ability to take over a match is so fun to watch whether she is in the middle or outside. She will once again get to enjoy this season with another standout Senior in Minnesota Seniors Ready To Sing Final Swan Song Minnesota Seniors Ready To Sing Final Swan Song ‘ last=”]’ last=”]” last=”Starkey”] as well as her younger sister, Emily Moes Emily Moes 6'0" | OH Lakeville South | 2023 MN . Ava will head to Tennessee following her prep career.
So many more to list…
Good luck to the Minnesota athletes who will be starting their season this weekend!
