Prep Dig Scouts Feature Heavy Hitters From Kansas

Division One recruit [player_tooltip player_id="105482" first="Caroline" last="Bien"] finished her high school career with a Class 5A State Championship. The Saints knocked off the Lansing Lions 25-13, 26-24 to win the title. Here is a scouting report from the Saints title run and the cupboard will be far from bare in 2021. DS, [player_tooltip player_id="105482" first="Caroline" last="Bien"], 5’11”, (’21 Ranked No. 2) – Bien is committed to playing at Kansas University. She might think about nicknaming her arm “Thor’s Hammer.” She can crush a volleyball. She gets great angles and swings all the way through. She can play both front and back rows. Bien had eight kills in the State Final and nine kills in the semifinal. She finished the regular season with 197 kills and 218 digs. OH, [player_tooltip player_id="105631" first="Ava" last="Martin"], 6’0”, (’22 Ranked No. 1) – Martin has verbally committed to play at Creighton University after graduation. She is an explosive jumper. She dominated the net in the State Championship game with 12 kills and four blocks. Martin was among the Class 5A state leaders in kills with 287 kills. Martin is a tall player with a solid net presence. Martin also had a big semifinal match amassing 11 kills and seven digs. MH, Tatum Grimes, 6’1”,– College recruiters better put this “Tower of Power” on their scouting reports. Grimes, just a freshman, is a varsity starter on a top-ranked team and is a major contributor. Grimes came to play in the Championship Match. She paced the Saints with seven blocks and eight kills. She is tall, has a big reach, and has excellent blocking technique. RS, Betsy Goodenew, 5’11”,– This sophomore will look to break the Prep Dig Rankings for the Class of 2023. The left-handed hitter puts some serious funk on the ball when she hits it. Almost all of her kills have an awkward spin on them that is tough to dig. Goodenow’s finished the day strong with seven kills and our blocks in the title game and had five kills and two digs in the semifinal match.
