District 4A Greater St. Helens – The Players to Watch

<p>Over the last few months, we’ve provided you a lot of information about who are the players you won’t want to miss when the high school volleyball season starts in Washington next March. First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.</p> <p>For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.</p> <p>The 4A Greater St. Helens district is composed of four high schools, and some of their players with the greatest upside are:</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> [caption id="attachment_101421" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="wp-image-101421 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2020/07/drew-eggleston-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> Photo: Excel NW[/caption] <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="97310" first="Drew" last="Eggleston"] – Outside Hitter/Opposite – Sophomore – Union</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="97310" first="Drew" last="Eggleston"] made a huge impact in Union’s game in her first season of high school volleyball. The six-footer has the skills to play as either outside hitter or opposite and her contributions, especially at the net, were instrumental to the Titans in 2019 even if they won only two out of seven district matches. Her All-League second-team selection is certainly only of the first of many she’ll amass during her high school career. She’s already part of prepdig.com’s class of 2023 watchlist.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> [caption id="attachment_110787" align="alignleft" width="150"]<img class="wp-image-110787 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2020/10/mackenzie-hancock-headhsot-150x150.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> Photo: Excel NW[/caption] <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="97030" first="Mackenzie" last="Hancock"] – Outside Hitter – Senior – Camas</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="97030" first="Mackenzie" last="Hancock"] has been a solid piece of Camas’ playing system in the last two years and he was instrumental in their 2019 campaign, which ended with a seventh-place finish at the State Championship. The 5’11” outside hitter is a difference-maker for the Papermakers on offense but is also capable of contributing in other areas of the game, especially defense and blocking. Her great performances last year took her to receive an All-League first-team nomination. She ranks 51st on prepdig.com’s class of 2021 rankings.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Hannah Schmidt – Middle-Blocker – Senior - Union</strong></p> <p>Hannah Schmidt has been a cornerstone for Union since she joined the school’s volleyball team. The 5’9”middle-blocker gets the job done at the net every night for the Titans and her consistency is one of her main assets as a player. Schmidt is a well-rounded player, having played as a setter and outside hitter earlier in her career, and has great speed and leaping ability at the net. In 2019, she was recognized as an All-League second-team selection.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
