Sommer can do just about anything. She comes from a small high school where she sets and plays middle. In club ball she typically swings from the pins and sets. She does a great job of giving her attackers a hittable ball. When she goes up to swing she can hang and pulls the trigger at just the right moment.

Courtney can set and swing and is impressive at both. She played all six rotations. Courtney has clean hands and a good volleyball IQ. She is a smart player both as a setter and on offense. Courtney gets a high volume of touches every game and adds value on nearly every point.

Sommer is smart and strategic and really good at providing the high ball that allows attackers to prove their athleticism. She has gotten quicker since this past fall and gets a ton of touches on defense and as a blocker. Sommer can also swing and terminate from anywhere. She is a solid all around athlete that has experience as a setter, middle, and swinging from either pin. I’ve seen her do it all and really well.

Courtney is a very efficient pin hitter. She balances power and shots. She has had a huge impact on her high school program and has been a varsity athlete since her freshman year. She is great in transition and out-of-serve receive. Courtney is well-rounded in all her skills and is an excellent option for a six-rotation pin hitter.
