The top-ranked outside, Jaycee Fixsen Jaycee Fixsen 5'11" | OH Nixa | 2022 State MO (3) has determined Missouri State will be her future home. Just down the rankings, Madison Scheer Madison Scheer 6'1" | OH Eureka | 2022 State #107 Nation MO (6) has said Alabama will be her next state in choosing Auburn. After that, it’s open season for these outside hitters looking to find their happy place. 10 outsides are among the top 25 in the class of 2022. Let’s take a look at the other eight still available.
#3 Jaycee Fixsen Jaycee Fixsen 5'11" | OH Nixa | 2022 State MO – Nixa/417 Juniors – Missouri State
We mentioned her briefly above but let’s give her the due she deserves. The Missouri State commit emerged as one of the top hitters in the state in 2020. The 5’11″ pin has good jumping ability and uses it to find the floor with an array of shots. She has great awareness and knows when to go from power to finesse. She is a true six rotation player, earning 438 kills and 399 digs in her all-state season. She will play up again on the 417 18-1 squad.
# 6 Madison Scheer Madison Scheer 6'1" | OH Eureka | 2022 State #107 Nation MO – Eureka/Rockwood – Auburn
Scheer is a force to be reckoned with on the floor with her lively arm. She has shown the ability to score from both pins and loves coming down the middle to put balls away. She has great length, which she uses to her advantage as a blocker. She is an asset in the passing game and puts the ball on location. She had a shortened high school season but was able to produce 150 kills in 12 matches.
#7 Ella Brinkmann Ella Brinkmann 5'9" | OH St. Francis Borgia | 2022 State MO – St. Francis Borgia/Rockwood
At 5’8″, Brinkmann can score at will on the high school and club scene. It may be a tall order from the pin on the collegiate level, which is why many division 1 programs eye her as a potential defensive specialist, who can score from the back row. She is a fearless attacker with many shot selections and tools the block with success. Brinkmann is strong defensively and moves well laterally. This fall she had 286 digs to go with her 490 kills.
#10 Madison Corf Madison Corf 5'11" | OH Liberty | 2022 State MO – Liberty/Dynasty
They don’t have to say it but we will. Corf was easily the biggest snub in the all-state selections this fall for Class 5. She produced another stellar season and showed she can be solid defensively and in receive. At 5’11″, she has the skill level to play on the division 1 level on the pin as a hitter. She hits with power and has good court awareness. She will continue to develop as a strong six rotation player, but her 250 digs and over 400 receptions shows she is capable.
#16 Sydney Handel Sydney Handel 5'10" | OH Lee's Summit West | 2022 State MO – Lee’s Summit West/KC Power
Handel earned her first all-state selection in 2020, as she became the main offensive threat for Lee’s Summit West. At 6’0″, she is another hitter who has power but does a good job of taking something off on the roll. As with Corf, her development as a defender and passer has improved to such levels she is being viewed as a Division I prospect. Her soccer background has helped her defensively with above-average footspeed and awareness. She had 317 kills and 258 digs this fall.
#17 Tevi Gurley Tevi Gurley 5'10" | OH El Dorado Springs | 2022 State MO – El Dorado Springs/417 Juniors
We listed Gurley as an OH, but she can play either pin and set, which makes her a prospect for many schools. Standing at 5’10″, she has good size and plays physical at the net. When in the setter role, she has great hands and ball placement. As a hitter, she sees the court well and finds the open floor with a variety of shots. Her court awareness is on another level. She knows where to send the ball on second contact attempts and scores often. She had an amazing season with 516 assists, 332 kills, and 303 digs. She makes the moves to 417 this club season, which should benefit her recruitment.
#19 Sydnee Dudolski Sydnee Dudolski 5'10" | OH Carthage | 2022 State MO – Carthage /Star Aquila
Dudolski could benefit from a full club season this winter/spring. Her high school numbers show she can play. If she can produce at the same level in 2021, she should give herself options for the next level. The 5’10″ OH has displayed she can take over a match in the scoring category to carry a team on her back. She has good vision and sees the court well. She had 303 kills and 258 digs in an all-state season.
#21 Kennedy Lane Kennedy Lane 5'9" | OH St. Pius X | 2022 State MO – St. Pius X (Festus)/Rockwood Thunder
The 5’9″ Lane plays much bigger than her size on the pin with great results. She is an efficient scorer and not afraid to go right at the big block. She is a defends well and exhibits good technique with her platform. She will be a good pickup for a DII or NAIA program as a six rotation player. Her numbers from this fall were strong, 411 kills and 220 digs. She’s made the move over to Rockwood this club season.
#22 Carly Glendinning Carly Glendinning 6'1" | OH Timberland | 2022 State #109 Nation MO – Timberland/Rockwood Thunder
Glendinning continues to move up the rankings and we wouldn’t be surprised to see her pushing the top 15 by the next ranking. She has everything coaches look for in a pin. At 6’0″, she has the size and length. She is a scorer across the net. Defensively, she presses well across the net on the block. Glendinning has displayed the ability to pass and move well around the back row. She will continue to get stronger physically, which will be appealing to many mid-major Division I programs.
#25 Jessa Hylton Jessa Hylton 5'7" | OH Carl Junction | 2022 State MO – Carl Junction/417
Hylton helped provide a solid 1-2 punch for Carl Junction this fall. The 5’7″ hitter proved she was up for the challenge after a 300 plus kill, 200 plus dig season. She is a smart scorer with good shot diversity. Her defense is improved, as evidenced by her numbers. She can be a good six rotation player for a DII or NAIA program.
