Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
The senior libero played a big role in Bridgeland’s victory by leading the team’s backcourt efforts. Volpe was reading the game extremely well, as usual, and nothing was falling in her zone, from hard-driven hits to tips and shots deflected off the block. She led the Bears in digs with 20 and also ended the match with seven passes and no serve-receive errors. Volpe set well in transition and had an excellent serving run in set one that allowed Bridgeland to create a huge lead and take control of the set.

Like the entire team, Volpe had a rough set one, uncharacteristically struggling with her passing. Once she found her rhythm, the senior libero became the difference-maker she typically is, covering a lot of court on serve-receive and making strong defensive plays. Her defensive efforts kept her team in several rallies, but Bridgeland’s scoring efforts against a tough Cy Ranch blocking didn’t allow the team to always capitalize from her play. Volpe also did a good job when she had to set in transition.

A stellar libero for Bridgeland in each of her first three years of high school volleyball, Volpe will continue to be the team’s defensive rock this season. She has had some really impressive numbers to start the season, having produced 131 digs, 114 passes and 11 aces in just 21 sets. Very technical, consistent and intelligent, Volpe will be even more important to the Bears this season as the team lost some offensive power when compared to the last seasons and will depend on their defense to stay on games more often.

One of the most impressive liberos in the Houston area, Volpe will be in action with her strong Bridgeland team. An extremely productive defensive player, she makes difficult digs look easy because of her outstanding positioning and superior ball control. Volpe has provided Bridgeland with tremendous stability on the backcourt for years and will once again be instrumental for the team this season as they work to replace some important players who graduated. Volpe’s high-energy and leadership will be of extreme value to her team this season and she’ll be ready to deliver again.

A stellar libero with one of the most reliable and efficient games in the entire state, Volpe will anchor the backcourt of her HJV 17 Elite team in the 17 Open division. She’s not only very productive, but also incredibly fun to watch with her highly-competitive and hard-working mindset on the court. Volpe reads the game very well and reacts to it very well, using her outstanding ball control to make plays. She’s incredibly consistent and, looking from the outside, it really feels like she never blinks, being so focused and into matches as anyone I’ve seen on the court.

Not many liberos have the ability to consistently make a difference for their teams, and Volpe is one of them. Be it with her high school team Bridgeland or with HJV 17 Elite, it’s a nearly impossible task to catch her on a bad night. Volpe is very technical and quick on the backcourt, but, above anything, she approaches every single match with the absolutely best mindset – remaining focused the entire time and doing her best to help her team. She’s capable of almost single-handedly making a serve-receive system work, will dig a handful of balls you won’t believe every match and will still make an impact with her serving.

Bridgeland’s star libero had another impressive performance filled with jaw-dropping digs. As usual, Volpe was very active and focused on the backcourt and almost nothing got past her, from hard-driven hits to tips and setter dumps. It was another consistent match from her, with very few mistakes and several recoveries when covering her hitters. Volpe also had a long serving run that helped the Bears climb back to take set one.

Bridgeland’s star libero played lights out on set one, when she dug numerous balls coming from Cy Ranch’s heavy hitters. Her reading from position 5 was outstanding and at times it felt like she could only know what the opposing pin hitters were going to do each time they were set. She thrived in controlling hard-driven hits but also in reacting to tips or balls that deflected off the block and had an unbelievable recover during the third set. Her passing was solid all night too.
