Oregon State commit and #3 outside hitter for the class of 2024 Paz is a very well-rounded and versatile athlete. The Athena 18-1 attacker is a very disciplined and technical passer on serve receive and defense; she is so steady in the back row that she could be a defensive specialist. But, with her explosive approach, impressive vertical, and super fast arm swing, Paz is incredibly dominant from the front row, too.

Unsurprisingly, Paz was a standout athlete during Regionals. Hitting from the outside on her Athena 17-1 team, Paz used her explosive attack and ability to hit to any place on the court, including a deadly shot down the line, to score consistently for her team. In the back row, Paz showed her steadiness and skill on serve receive, rarely (if ever) letting serves get past her. Paz is a high level player, able to adjust well to any set and move quickly and effortlessly on defense.

Although Paz has struggled with a shoulder injury this past year, she remains a top athlete to watch on this Athena team. As a six-rotation outside hitter, Paz has an impressive vertical and powerful swing that she uses to put the ball away deep into the court. While she is an effective and strong attacker, Paz is also an incredible athlete defensively and on serve receive. She tracks the ball well and manages to pick up really hard-driven attacks and challenging serves. Paz can also set the ball well out of system, which adds to her strengths as an all-around athlete.

Paz, who normally hits from the outside but only passed on Sunday due to a shoulder injury, is a very dynamic athlete. Although she only played in the back row, Paz showed her all-around talent and high volleyball IQ. She made great plays on serve receive, rarely letting a serve sneak past her, and she read the opposite side’s hitters well. Paz is also very good at setting the ball when the setter takes the first pass, a talent that is necessary for the defensive specialist position. Paz’s defensive abilities will have a hugely positive impact on her success as an outside hitter once she is able to swing again.
