Tour of Oregon: Top Outside Hitters from Bend

As we tour the state of Oregon, we will be making many stops throughout this great State. We will be stopping by cities big and small, highlighting the best athletes in those places. Third stop: Bend! Here are the top seven outside hitters:
2021
Izzy Armstrong Izzy Armstrong 5'8" | OH Bend | 2021 State OR , 5’8″, OH, Bend High School, North Pacific Juniors, Slippery Rock University
Armstrong had a breakout junior season for the Bend High School Lava Bears, helping them secure a third-place finish in the Mountain Valley Conference. She became a key player in their success as a go-to attacker for the Lava Bears. For her play she was awarded Mountain Valley First Team All-League, receiving Mountain Valley Second Team All-League as a Sophomore. Offensively, she is incredibly smart in her placement, and defensively she does not let the ball hit the floor. Last club season she played for North Pacific Juniors 18-A National team and will be returning to NPJ for this upcoming club season.
She recently committed to play volleyball at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.
2022
Greta Davis Greta Davis 5'11" | OH Sisters | 2022 State OR , 5’11″, OH, Sisters High School, North Pacific Juniors
Davis had a standout sophomore season for the Sisters High School Outlaws, helping them finish first in the Oregon West league and fourth in the 4A State tournament. She was an offensive threat for the Outlaws, racking up 212 kills this past season. For her play, she was awarded Oregon West First Team All-League, the only sophomore, and 4A Second Team All-State. She is a very confident and athletic player, with stellar back row play, making her a six-rotation powerhouse. Last club season she played for North Pacific Juniors 16-A team and will be returning to NPJ for this upcoming club season.
Marin Montagne Marin Montagne 5'9" | OH Bend | 2022 State OR , 5’9″, OH/DS, Bend High School, Central Oregon Volleyball Club
Montagne had a stellar season for the Bend High School Lava Bears, helping them secure a third-place finish in the Mountain Valley Conference. In her first season on Varsity, she played both as an outside hitter and defensive specialist. Montagne is the definition of a utility player, she can play any position on the court with ease. Trained as a setter through grade school, she has stepped into this new role with confidence. She is incredibly athletic and uses this to rack up kills. Last club season she played up on the 18-1 Central Oregon Volleyball Club and will be returning to COVC this upcoming club season.
Taylor Brickey, 5’11″, OH/RS, Summit High School, North Pacific Juniors
Brickey originally spent the season with the Summit High School Storm on their Junior Varisty team but was pulled up to the Varsity squad. She dominated on the outside for the Storm, racking up 14 kills during a match against Bend. During club season she primarily played on the right side, with Greta Davis Greta Davis 5'11" | OH Sisters | 2022 State OR and Alex Acevedo playing on the outside. However, the right side is a natural fit for Brickey, as she has an incredibly strong block and seals well with the net. When attacking, she has an explosive approach and a fast arm swing. Last club season she played for North Pacific Juniors 16-A team and will be returning to NPJ for this upcoming club season.
2023
Shannon MacCallum Shannon MacCallum 5'10" | OH Summit | 2023 State OR , 5’10″, OH/MB, Summit High School, North Pacific Juniors
MacCallum was a force on the Central Catholic High School Rams Junior Varsity team, showcasing her versatility as both a middle blocker and an outside hitter. She became a go-to attacker for the team and was never afraid to swing away. She garnered the most kills on the team. She has recently transitioned to the outside hitter position. She has really honed in on her back row skills this past year in hopes of becoming a six rotation standout. This past summer her family and her moved to Bend, OR, so she is now attending Summit High School. Last club season she played for Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 15-1 National team, but because of her move to Bend will be playing for North Pacific Juniors 16-A team.
Madie Vaughn Madie Vaughn 5'9" | OH Ridgeview | 2023 State OR , 5’9″, OH, Ridgeview High School, North Pacific Juniors
Vaughn spent last season on the Ridgeview High School Ravens Junior Varsity team. The Ravens Varsity team finished first in the 5A State tournament so it is safe to say they have a powerhouse program. Vaughn was one of three freshmen to make the JV squad. Last club season she played for North Pacific Juniors 15-A National team and will be returning to NPJ for this upcoming club season.
Jillian Stein Jillian Stein 5'8" | OH Bend | 2023 State OR , 5’7”, OH/DS, Bend High School, North Pacific Juniors
Stein spent last season on the Bend High School Lava Bears Junior Varsity team. When attacking, she has an impressive vertical and a heavy arm. Defensively, she reads the ball well and has an all-out mentality. Last club season she played for North Pacific Juniors 15-A National team and will be returning to NPJ for this upcoming club season.
