Minnesota Match-up: 1A

<p>   All around the state, players and coaches have been working overtime to kick off the 2018 volleyball season.  There will be awesome matches played every other night; it can be hard to keep up.  This series: Minnesota Match-up, will preview some of the most anticipated matches of the of week.  Stay  up to date with who is challenging who.</p> <p><strong>1A, Week 1; Thursday, August 23, 2018</strong>:</p> <p><em>Caledonia Warri</em><em style="font-family: Lato, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;">ors</em> vs. <em>Winona Winhawks:  </em></p> <p>      The Winhawks will host the powerful players of Caledonia in their opening match this Thursday at 7pm in Winona.  We like this match-up because Caledonia, ranked in the top 10 for 1A, have chosen to start their season with the much larger, 3A school.  Caledonia's head coach, Scott Koepke, always brings a squad both physically and fundamentally superior to many others in the class.  They nearly made it to the state tournament last year; losing to Fairbault Bethlehem Academy in 4 sets.  Caledonia graduated their power-hitter Madisyn Heaney and all-state setter Adrianna Reinhart, but junior Lydia Lange is no-doubt ready for action.  Likewise, Winona returns a strong roster and their experience in the Big 9 conference has prepared them for competition.  Last year their finished close behind Owatonna and Mankato East.</p> <p>Be sure to follow-up with scores because it is only the first week and anything can happen!  </p>
