Here at PrepDig, we are committed to covering and promoting as many prospects as possible, from the most popular names to the hidden gems that typically abound at the Lone Star State and during the high school season we’re also doing it by featuring the teams they play at.
Every time we’re at the gym, we’re giving a good look at the teams on the court and we’ll try to feature as many as possible here in this space. Today, it’s the turn of the Fort Bend Dulles Vikings.
The Squad
The Vikings entered this season having to make changes in two key positions after their starting setter and libero from 2021 graduated. Everywhere else, though, Dulles will look mostly the same, with outside hitters Kylie Mueller Kylie Mueller 6'0" | OH Dulles | 2023 State TX and Renato Bolado and middle blocker Noor Haydari running the show.
Key Players
The explosive Mueller is easily the team’s most important player. Very complete, she gets the job done in several different areas for the Vikings, but it’s her offense that makes of her a special player. A si-footer, Mueller is extremely mobile and versatile, being equally effective on either pin. She started the season playing some middle too and showed excellent timing with her blocking. Also a very good server and a solid defensive player, Mueller achieved 1,000 kills in her high school career right after the start of the season.
The 5’10” Bolado also plays a key role in making of the Vikings a very competitive team. A well-rounded outside hitter, she combines tremendous explosiveness at the net and impressive consistency in her backcourt actions. Bolado is a very powerful hitter and thrives when she hits a quick set at the pin. She’s also very technically sound and makes the entire team better with her play.
Noor Haydari
Noor Haydari
If Mueller and Bolado give the Vikings tremendous firepower at the pin, it’s Haydari who provided a solid presence down the middle to the team. Blocking is arguably her main asset on the court as besides having long arms and great reach, she is also extremely mobile at the net and has excellent timing. The 5’10” Haydari is also reliable with her offense and well-versed on the backcourt, playing one of the back rotations.
Barbara Fuentes
Barbara Fuentes
Fuentes is doing a solid job in her first season as Dulles’ starting libero. She makes of her excellent positioning the building block of her game, benefiting from it to make digs. Fuentes is very agile and reacts very quickly on the backcourt, getting to balls not many others would. She can defend different positions on the backcourt and makes very few mistakes.
Dylla plays taller than her 5’7″ frame as her long arms make her look bigger than that and also improve her blocking reach. As a playmaker, she does a very good job with her distribution, often using her length to reach overpasses. She runs a fast-paced offense and manages to maintain her uptempo rhythm even in transition with very few mistakes. Dylla is also very solid on defense.
