October’s Midseason Adjustments

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As we turn a new chapter in our 2022 season, we look forward to teams making their midseason adjustments to make themselves contenders for the postseason.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Roster Adjustments</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I went to a few tournaments last weekend to catch up on teams and players I have not seen in person in awhile. This is the part of the season that teams will need to manage the most in terms of players' health, school's heavy load, and homecoming dances. Yes you read that right, dances, as I saw players leaving tournaments for the past 2 weekends to rush out from the gym so they can get ready for homecoming. Here are some roster adjustments teams are making this week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='154041' first='Logan' last='Parks'] - S/Pin - Blue Valley North</strong><br>Parks was out from the Janice Van Gorp (JVG) tournament last weekend due to illness and the Mustangs did not do as well. We will see if she's back in the lineup this Thursday, where they host #8 Blue Valley and Bishop Miege.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='222085' first='Julia' last='Anisimova'] - OH - Shawnee Mission Northwest </strong><br>Anisimova was present at the JVG tournament to support her team but was out due a thumb injury sustained during Friday's practice. The Cougars will be back in action on Thursday at home against Olathe North and Shawnee Mission North.<br><br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='173381' first='Hadley' last='Porter'] - Libero - Blue Valley Southwest</strong><br>Porter played limited amount at the Spring Hill Invitational and sat out the later portion of the day due to a lower body injury. #13 Blue Valley Southwest lost to #4 Aquinas in straight sets on Tuesday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='187999' first='Ally' last='Schmidt'] - MB - Blue Valley Southwest</strong><br>Did not play at Spring Hill Invitational - informed of possible illness.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='222087' first='Carlie' last='Pandjaris'] - OH - Blue Valley West</strong><br>Blue Valley West lost to #1 St. James and #15 Blue Valley Northwest in straight sets on Tuesday. Pandjaris has been playing defensive specialist lately from the last time I saw them at Olathe East Invitational Tournament. On Tuesday, she played as an OH and DS for [player_tooltip player_id='216385' first='Katrina' last='Whitehouse']. Then again Blue Valley West may be doing some lineup changes to go into post-season mode.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Game Changers from Tuesday's Triangular at St. James</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Katie Philips - DS - 2025 - Blue Valley West</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Phillips helped the Jaguars be competitive in the defensive ends with her solid platform and hustle plays. The mental aspect on her leg's injury seems to have dismayed and Douglas balled out. The junior outside hitter was crushing balls as she was jumping and hitting aggressively as the Huskies' top hitter. The multi-sport athlete used her athleticism to save some outside sets past the antenna. Douglas was persistent on the net and was a blocking machine for the Huskies. Goodwin'] - OH - 2024 - St. James</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>St James had a balanced offense on Tuesday and Goodwin was the leading hitter against Blue Valley Northwest. She had 6 kills with a team-high 0.294 hitting percentage. The junior outside hitter was able to find holes in the Huskies' blocking scheme.
