There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are now into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our Prep Dig Texas All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences together and pick the best of the best. The Setters we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Kassidy O’Brien Kassidy O’Brien 5'10" | S Cinco Ranch | 2025 State #19 Nation TX [2025] 6-0 Setter (HS: Cinco Ranch/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kassidy is currently ranked as the 12th best overall prospect and the 3rd best setter in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Cinco Ranch high school in the Katy area and also club for Houston Skyline. She stepped up in a big way for Cinco Ranch this season and almost tripled her production in assists as she amassed 1,122 as a sophomore. But that was not all she did on the court as she also tallied 284 digs, 38 total blocks, and added 123 kills to help her squad go 29-13 overall and 13-3 in district. There is no doubt that Cinco has their next big star in Miss O’Brien as she has shown a great propensity to be a fantastic leader of women. Usually taller setters are not able to move around the court well, but Kassie tracks down balls with ease due to fast amazing footwork. I love how she uses her long arms to contact the ball and push it at a very nice tempo to all of her hitters. Please congratulate her on earning a nomination for an All-State Award.
Ashlyn Kelly [2025] 5-8 Setter (HS: Gregory-Portland/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ashlyn is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She is the floor general at Gregory-Portland High School. Miss Kelly has led all sophomore setters in assists this year in the entire state of Texas. Her assist total finished at 1,279. She stepped into a major role on varsity this year after only appearing in eight sets last year. She also had 25 aces, added 60 kills, and dug 348 balls out of the right back zone. Miss Kelly is one of those setters who could easily step into a defensive role if need be as she is amazing at reading the hitter. Her hands are super soft and she is not afraid of moving the ball around to all of her attackers. There is not a set hat she cannot repeat. Her leadership will be something that her squad will love over the next two years. We are very proud to have her listed as s nominee. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
Emma Rosier Emma Rosier 5'6" | S Boyd | 2025 TX [2025] 5-7 Setter (HS: Boyd/Club: Muscle/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Emma is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Boyd High School and played club for Texas Pistols last year. This year she will suit up for Muscle volleyball club. In her first season on varsity at Boyd, she amassed 1,099 assists, 72 aces, 360 digs, and added 169 kills. She did a little bit of everything for their program. She was one of the main reasons why they were able to go 35-10 overall and13-1 in district. Miss Rosier has mastered the art of the setter dump and she does not just resort to putting the ball in the middle of the court. I love how she jumps and pushes the ball with one hand to a deep corner. It is a dump that no one expects and it scores very well for her. Also, don’t sleep on her size as she is not afraid to jump and block any hitter when in the front row. She utilizes impeccable timing to slow down attackers at the net. We love the production that she showed during her awesome sophomore season and are proud to have her on the list of nominees. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
