Who wants to hit the lottery? This is a “can't miss” prospect! Our number one goal across our entire Prep Network site is to spotlight those players who excel in their sport in hopes of creating much needed exposure for them to get recruited. Normally we highlight multiple athletes in each article to maximize our reach. Every now and then we will do some solo articles on some special players for different reasons. This article is about one of the best in the business, [player_tooltip player_id='212725' first='Kennedi' last='Rogers'], who has been phenomenal over the course of her junior volleyball career and is not verbally committed to a college program yet. We were able to sit down with her and get to know who she is and what she can offer a volleyball program at the next level. Let's take a closer look at who Kennedi is as both a person and a player.

Kennedi is currently ranked as the 12th best overall prospect and 7th best left side attacker in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Ridge Point High School and also plays club for the Absolute Volleyball Academy of Texas out of South Houston. We have covered Kennedi extensively over the last two years and love every minute of watching her play. She has come to our showcases in the past and we have been able to get a very good understanding of who she is as a player. And my understanding is that she is phenomenal. This young lady is the type of player who will not only make a roster at the next level, but she will start and she will be a true point scorer at that level. In my 23 years of coaching in the sport, I am not sure that I have seen a better attacker at such a young age as Miss Rogers. While there may be many taller players than her in the outside position…only a fool would choose them over her. Yes I am very aware that you cannot teach height, but she will beat out any player who is taller. Everything about her level of play tells me that she could play college ball right now! Defensively she is able to play in the back row at a libero level against some of the best Open Level talent in the nation. Offensively she is one of the top power hitters in the nation and has proven it over the last two seasons at a very high level. We will continue to watch her progress but wanted to put this article out so that any college coaches who do not know her yet can write her name in their short list to watch at her remaining tournaments this season. She is one that you do not want to pass up.

We were able to ask Miss Rogers a few questions to get to know her better and here are her responses.

Prep Dig TX: Why Volleyball? Why is it important to you? What do you love about it?

Kennedi: I chose volleyball because I wanted to play a sport where I could be myself unapologetically. I cheered and danced before trying volleyball so when you add my ability to cheer loud for my team and showcase my actual athletic ability… well volleyball just made sense. Volleyball is important to me because it's taught me a lot of lessons. Volleyball has been a great metaphor for life as it's taught me work ethic and humility as well as the lessons in success and failures. Volleyball is important to me, as it has allowed me to grow as a young lady and create a confidence within myself. I realize at the end of the day there will doubters and various challenges, but as long as I believe in myself and remain passionate and dedicated to the process, I will be more than all right. I love that volleyball is a confidence booster as people don't often believe in my capabilities right off the bat, as I am not your average sized outside. I love the way it brings girls together and allows you to make new friends and creates new opportunities and experiences.

Prep Dig TX: Tell me what you love about your position on the court the most?

Kennedi: I love being an outside hitter because I get to show my arm talent and athletic abilities. I pride myself on being a six-rotation player that takes just as much pride in my defense as I do in my offense. I've made defense a vital part of my game because frankly, I just don't want to leave the court. Not to mention my parents are defensive driven former collegiate/pro-athletes that have instilled in me offense wins games, but defense wins championships. Sometimes it's hard to stand on the sidelines and not be able to help your team outside of cheering. So I've challenge myself to get better on defense so that I'm able stay in the game and be an impact from the back row. I really enjoy accepting the challenge of being on defense against other amazing outsides hitters and not just trading swings. Hearing your teammates get hyped for you well… that to me just makes for great volleyball. But if I'm being honest I genuinely love the reactions of those looking on that weren't expecting me to crush a ball. I love keeping my opponents on their toes from a total game perspective.

Prep Dig TX: What are you looking for in a college program/coach?

Kennedi: I am looking for a program that genuinely wants to help me grow and develop as a person and as a volleyball player. I'd love a program where communication, transparency, and competitive/positive environment exist. I want a coach and coaching staff that will challenge me to grow not only with constructive criticism/correction but will also teach me the “why(s)” behind it.

Prep Dig TX: What does Leadership mean to you? How do you plan on becoming a better leader this season?

Kennedi: A leader to me is someone who makes others better in their presence or absence. Being a part of a competitive team we are going to naturally push each other; so this season I plan on setting the bar by my work ethic on and off the court. I plan to make my presence known this year by my actions and leading by them. My leadership will be present by holding myself accountable as well as others around me. I just want to be a good teammate and allow my teammates to lean on me whenever they need me. A title is not necessarily needed. I'm going to continue to stay disciplined and stay focused on my team goals. Working hard is not an option but an expectation. I want our expectations for us ourselves to be higher than last year and a goal to create better bonds with our each other.

Prep Dig TX: What do you think is your biggest obstacle this year compared to last season? How do you plan to overcome it?

Kennedi: My biggest obstacle for me this year was definitely playing at a new and smaller club and trying to qualify in the open division. Last year I played for a bigger club and walking in the gym we were considered to be an instant threat visually. The fact that we were all individually so good, we just had a target on us all season and all of our opponents mission was to take down Goliath as we chased an open bid. Fast-forward to my new team at a smaller club that consists of some amazing athletes, but couldn't compare in size and yet you still have a target on your back…it definitely adds pressure. People did not think much of us at first and did not believe that we would be good enough to compete in the open division. As the season progressed our team came together and started defying the odds by working together and staying focus. We have been dedicated to our goals and that really helped us to be successful. We were determined not to let the negativity dictate our destiny, but found positive outlets as well as practicing hard that lead to our success. I knew I would need to push myself on a whole other level. I had to commit to opening up my game, being smarter, training more and mentally maturing faster all while keeping that fire in my belly ignited and keeping my team as my priority.

Prep Dig TX: What are three individual goals that you have for this club season?

Kennedi: Three individual goals I have for myself this season are to hit over .300, pass a 2.0 or above, and to be a leader at all times. I will never give up no matter how hard things get. Really I am just going to keep working so that on June 15th, my phone rings.

Prep Dig TX: Name two people that have influenced you in volleyball the most.

Kennedi: My mom and Bianna Muenoke. My mom basically pointed out that my value wasn't determined by a jersey, but the individual wearing the jersey has all of the power. She never lets me get too comfortable because that will get you on someone else's highlight reel. Bianna has been a big sister to me for a few years now. I don't know who pushes me harder her or my mom. Her game alone makes you just want to be a better athlete and then add academics also. The bar has been set high and I have accepted the challenge. She checks in on me even with her busy schedule and gives me advice and it works. She won't allow me to make excuses or be ok with one good game. She is definitely the big sis I've always wanted.

Prep Dig TX: What is something that a coach has told/taught you that lives in your head rent free?

Kennedi: Don't get your chain yanked - which means don't let the setter trick you and you block the wrong hitter!

Prep Dig TX: What other hobbies/interests do you have outside of volleyball?

Kennedi: I love to dance and paint and to make funny videos.

Kennedi is truly a talented player that you will not want to pass up on. Her game has it all. She can play a power game, mix up off-speed shots to stifle the defense, tool blockers out of bounds, pass serve like a true primary passer, dig like a libero, and attack from all areas of the court. Her jump serve is also phenomenal. Give this young lady a true look and you will see that you cannot go wrong with recruiting her for your program. We will continue to watch her progress in the sport and will keep you updated on her journey. Stay tuned for more from [player_tooltip player_id='212725' first='Kennedi' last='Rogers'].
