Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
Huynh helped Drive Nation 17 – Red secure a fourth-place finish in the tournament with five wins and three losses, a result that earned them a bid to Nationals. Her electric game on the back row was a big asset for the team, as the libero was very active and efficient with both her passing and defense. Huyhn was very quick to react and managed to remain accurate with her deliveries even when performing diving digs or stretching for the ball. She was very consistent with her passing, using her impressive mobility to successfully handle a large area of the court.

Dakota is a high-energy libero in the class of 2027 whose impact is rooted in consistency, effort, and elite ball control. We have been following her closely since her freshman season and she has been elite in each match we have seen. There is nothing that she cannot do at a very high level all over the court. At 5’2”, she plays with a fearless mentality, using quick reactions and sharp anticipation to compensate for size. Huynh shows strong serve-receive fundamentals, maintaining a disciplined platform and delivering clean first contact against tough serving pressure. Defensively, she covers significant ground and consistently extends rallies with timely reads and controlled digs. Her ability to stay low, change direction quickly, and pursue balls outside her frame separates her from many peers at the position. She brings a steady presence to the back row, communicating effectively and helping organize defensive schemes. Competing with Skyline Juniors exposes her to fast-paced, physical play, sharpening her decision-making and execution. Huynh’s motor never drops, and her willingness to embrace high-volume defensive roles stands out. This is exactly why we have her ranked as the best libero in her grad class.

The best libero in her age group in Texas, according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, Huynh will be with the Dallas Skyline 16 Royal – Whit team that will appear in the 16 Open division. She’s a defensive machine, who consistently shows up at the right spots to make plays and has the reflexes and the ball control needed to handle anything that goes her way. Huynh is also an elite passer, who has incredible spatial awareness, covers a lot of ground and is always very confident to make contact with the ball. Despite being a libero, she also gets to contribute offensively to her team’s game with extremely tricky floaters, which often generate aces and free balls coming over the net.

Dakota is currently ranked as the 4th best overall prospect in the 2027 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays volleyball at Plano East High School and club for the Madfrog volleyball program. Miss Huynh is a prototypical libero who can control the ball in every aspect of the game. Her serves are laser beams that can stifle opposing serve receivers. They are very low to the tape and that makes it very difficult for passers to judge their trajectory and it hurts their depth perception while trying to pass the ball. As far as defense is concerned, she has the discipline to keep her shoulders low to the ground while moving to the ball and while making contact. Her arms have to have ball magnets in them because she was always in the perfect position to pass/dig the ball. In all seriousness, I attribute that to amazing court vision and awareness in playing the libero position. She was hands down the best libero in the gym on Saturday. Please help me congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this Expo.

Huynh appears at the top libero in our rankings and is also the fourth-highest-ranked overall prospect. The libero of Plano East High School and Dallas Skyline 15 Royal is truly one of a kind in the position thanks to her extraordinary ball control, which allows her to make impressive digs regardless of the situation. Huynh is also very quick on the backcourt and is capable of quickly reacting to deflected shots or surprising moves by hitters – something that happens fairly often given her excellent reading of the game. The libero also gets the job done with tremendous efficiency in serve-receive, covering a lot of ground and delivering accurate passes to her setter.
