Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Let’s add one more rural gem with tournament experience. Wiedel’s multi-position influence has been part of a multi-year renaissance for Thayer Central, last year’s Class C2 runner-up. She has primarily been the Titans’ leading setter throughout her career, but 2025 has produced Wiedel’s best performances yet. She has accumulated 9.5 assists per set to go along with her sky-high dig numbers as a right-back defender. Thayer Central lost some outstanding athletes from 2024’s team, but the Knights have kept charging en route to a 13-0 record this fall. Wiedel is determined to reenter the Lincoln spotlight.

This small-town star racked up over three digs per set to go along with seven assists per set for the Titans. Her multi-dimensional skill set has fit right in with Nebraska Juniors 16 Black, where Wiedel transforms matches through her setting and defense. Wiedel is the prototypical ball-handling weapon we’re used to seeing in the Nebraska Juniors gym. She’s building off an outstanding sophomore campaign with Thayer Central in which she logged over seven assists per set and three digs per set en route to the Class C2 championship. In other words, she can run the offense or lock down the back row. Wiedel’s setting prowess entered the spotlight at this month’s Power League, and we’re excited to see more in the coming weeks.

Wiedel is making the most of her starting reps with Nebraska Juniors 15 Black. The Thayer Central athlete has an outstanding feel for setting against the grain and is not afraid to take some risks as a back-row setter. Her foot speed is another strength, as Wiedel can track down passes that are drifting off the net. We have a lot of small-town setters to follow from the 2027 class, and you can add Wiedel to that growing list.

The Show Me Qualifier updated our scouting report for so many Nebraska Juniors athletes. Wiedel is a name we had circled for 15 Black after she spread the ball around nicely in Kansas City. She was not deterred by the challenging grind of 15 Open competition. Rather, Wiedel made the most of her reps and helped expand 15 Black’s overall setter depth. This Nebraska Juniors squad has a lot of lineups in its arsenal.
