Similar to Bollier, Mavrik Schweer Mavrik Schweer 5'3" | DS/L Mount Vernon | 2027 State IA brings another level of energy and intensity the second she steps on the court. When I think of a selfless libero, Schweer is one of the first kids to come to mind. She will put her body on the line for her team time and time again if it allows her team the opportunity to score. I’ve gotten the privilege of seeing her in action quite a few times this season, and I’m always left impressed by not only her grit, but also her passion. It doesn’t take much for her to get people watching. And the plays that make their heads turn and leave them amazed, are just part of her everyday gameplay.

Schweer has made significant progress with her consistency during the last year, a crucial piece to becoming a successful performer in the back row, where mistakes are magnified. Scouting her in person at the late-season Westide Invite in Cedar Rapids and again at the state tournament, Schweer was a key reason the Mustangs made it back to Coralville following major graduation losses from the 2024 state championship team. Keeping a rebuilding team regularly in system helps it gain confidence. Schweer succeeds with lateral quickness and quick reactions. She stands in well on serve-receive and is well-positioned against the attack. Schweer is small but tough, a kid willing to work for her dreams.

One of the few holdovers from the Mount Vernon rotation that won the 2024 Class 3A state championship, Schweer has moved into a starring role for the Mustangs this fall. They need strong play from the back row with less firepower up front, and the junior has provided a steady, reliable presence there. Schweer loves the game and has worked hard on improving her skills, which was apparent when scouting her during the Westside Invite in Cedar Rapids on Oct. 11. Facing intense attacks from formidable opponents, she helped her squad compete by consistently turning pace in precise passes. Schweer is smart and learns how to gain advantages throughout matches. She’s a leader, keeps teammates engaged and communicates well.
