If there ever was a kid that you can honestly cheer for no matter whom she played for or against, it’s Emily. As an unassuming workhorse, Emily has a knack for doing her job, doing it well, and accepting nothing but the best from herself. One of the main reasons for Franklin Central’s first sectional final in a decade, Miss Williams runs the offense at Franklin Central and Academy’s top team in her age group with ease, all without bringing attention to herself—-the mark of a true setter perfecting her craft. All of her hard work certainly paid off, as she’s earned a commitment from Southern Indiana, who had a resurgence of their own this past season.

Tucked neatly away at Franklin Central, Emily is an athletic and relentless setter that has been the unflashy version of Anabelle, listed above. Emily does her job, does it well, and does it without the attention and accolades that a lot of setters in this class are accustomed to receiving. She fits well into a 5-1, but could slot in as a 6-2 setter for a larger school when needed. Always on open-level club teams and one of the main reasons Franklin Central is even relevant in volleyball, Emily makes everyone around her better, which is good enough for me.

Undersized and under appreciated, Emily is a no-nonsense workhorse of a setter that can set any ball in any tempo from anywhere on the court. The in-system offense she runs is one of the fastest I’ve seen in recent memory, and her hands are quick and deceptive, creating attacking lanes for her hitters. No, there’s no flash, no “look at me” attitude. She does her job, and does it at an elite level in every match from the first whistle to the last.

Quiet and unassuming, Emily is one of two setters listed on the roster for Academy’s Yeti (read: 16-1). Her athleticism is on full display when setting—long strides, strong hands and shoulders, and an ability to turn a bad pass into something hittable. Although her squad didn’t quite have the finish they wanted (Silver bracket), they still took a set off of Legacy, the eventual 5th-place finisher. All of the parts are there to succeed at the next level for this squad. Emily is the clear reason these hitters can produce in a complex and fast offense.

Quick-footed and accurate with her hands, Emily can be found on Academy’s Yeti roster (16-1). When watching her play, you can physically SEE the work ethic that goes in to what she can do on a court. Every tempo she can set, regardless of her hitters’ skill or size, arrives with accuracy and very hittable. Her high school season didn’t exactly turn out the way that it could, but as a floor leader, she should be chiefly responsible for the Flashes’ future successes simply because of Miss Williams’ leadership.
