MVP Merges with United Sports Academy
Midwest Volleyball Power has displayed its success since its foundation in 2011, capturing 2 AAU National Titles, 3 USAV National Qualifier Titles, and producing 56 alumni who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level in all divisions. Just this year, MVP's 9 club teams brought home 28 Great Plains Tournament Championships. However, unlike the major clubs out of Sioux Falls and Omaha that they regularly compete against, the club has never had a home facility.
MVP formerly claimed its former “home” at Longlines Family Rec Center, where it was able to store equipment and rent out courts, but never had a true place to host tournaments and display trophies. That is until recently.
On May 14th, United Sports Academy, Siouxland's new premier club-owned athletic training and competition facility, announced Midwest Volleyball Power's merger with their program.
“We are very excited to have MVP join our team at the United Sports Academy,” states Shane Tritz, Executive Director. “Their level of expertise instantly elevates our volleyball program to the top level. This elite program will now be available at the United Sports Academy to all skill levels of volleyball players. We are looking forward to the impact the MVP United program and their coaches will have on athletes new to the game of volleyball along with athletes seeking an opportunity at the collegiate level.”
The United Sports Academy (USA) is a 56,000 square foot facility and serves more than just volleyball. The complex features 8 volleyball courts, 8 basketball courts, 4 pickleball courts, a 7,000 square-foot health club and performance training center, 2 golf simulators, and a corporate event space with concessions.
USA operates under the following mission statement, “To create an opportunity, through athletics, for the most positive role models and coaches to interact with the youth of Siouxland. Through this interaction, each player will develop a commitment to their individual passions. From this commitment the complete person, teammate, and athlete will emerge.”
With the merger with United, Midwest Volleyball Power has become the foundation for the volleyball program and services offered by United. The club will now be referred to as Midwest Volleyball Power United, or MVP United for short.
What does this mean for MVP? Club president, Melissa Smith, states “While we are happy with what our Club has accomplished up to this point, we want to continue to grow the game that we love in Siouxland. We believe that our partnership with United Sports Academy will put us in a position to do just that. In addition to focusing on high level competition with our National level teams, a facility like USA is key for our expansion and focus on development of athletes of all skill levels.”
With the addition of a true home facility for MVP United , the Great Plains Region can expect to see more and more quality tournaments offered in the Siouxland area!
