About Ashlyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay as calm, fearless, and intelligent. When playing I try to take deep breaths and tell myself that I can do it. When playing I also try to see what's happening on the other side of the net. What plays are they running? Are there open spots to hit to? But I also try to take deep breaths and let my teammates know that I got there back.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is have no fear. No matter who you are up against or who you're playing with, have no fear and go all out. You might only get one opportunity, so don't waste it because you were scared.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

In school, I am involved in CSF (California Scholarship Federation). This is important to me because I am a STUDENT-athlete, so my grades will always come first.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed a leadership role on and off the court while being in leadership. This has also helped me improve my skills as a teammate. From becoming more coachable, open to receiving feedback, and supporting my peers no matter the day. I also volunteer to help coach at Rage Volleyball Club. This has helped me tremendously because again, it helps me become a more coachable athlete.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My freshman year of high school, I made varsity. But being a freshman comes with challenges when you are on varsity. I wasn’t getting very much playing time. But due to hard work and determination, I proved myself on the court and began getting playing time.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that suits me personally, athletically, and academically no matter the division. I am a Christian athlete who strives to play for the glory of God and would love to go to a school that agrees with me on that.

Ashlyn showed impressive adaptability in out of system situations, making smart attacking decisions and finding open space on the court. She hustled relentlessly in the back row and consistently blended offense with defense, making her impact felt in long rallies.

Ashlyn shared that hitting, defense, and being the best teammate she can be are central to her game. She is focused on improving her speed and explosiveness and has goals of becoming the best version of herself while helping her team qualify for Nationals. As a varsity athlete since her freshman year, Ashlyn brings experience, effort, and a team first mindset that translated clearly throughout the showcase.
