Here are some teams and players who definitely are turning heads due to their play. This series will highlight some players who we have seen in person and that we are adding to our list to watch this season.
Vision 15 Gold
Setter Kiley McGibben has something about her that shows so much swagger. She is not afraid to play front row during her running of the solid 5-1 offense. I love the way she incorporates the jump set into the way she plays the setter position. There is not a set that she cannot replicate no matter where she is on the court. This team is literally in great hands with her at the helm. The main reason for this team’s dangerous offense is their play on the left side. They have two lethal outsides who can score at will. Mckenna Mcintosh is one of the best attackers in her grad class and she proves it with every swing. Her counterpart, Maura Hambly can flat out soar with the birds. She plays very high above the net and has hang time for days. Not many in this age group can “hang” with her in the air as her vertical is astronomical. Libero Kaitlyn Vogel Kaitlyn Vogel 5'7" | DS/L Foothill | 2027 CA has the potential to be ranked very high when I update the State Rankings soon. I loved how confident she is in ball control with both defense and serve receive. Both middles, Aanya Hotha Aanya Hotha 6'1" | MB Saratoga | 2027 CA and Sadie Bins are very formidable at the net. They provide a lot of defense to set the tone for the rest of the team. I think we will see them this summer at nationals for sure as they are one of the best teams from Northern Cali.
Wave 15 Brennan
There is no doubt that this team is stacked to say the least. They have shown the entire nation that they are one of the teams to beat this year. Is Ireland Real Ireland Real 6'4" | OH Santa Margarita | 2027 CA the best player in her grad class? The answer is leaning towards yes in my book. This young lady can bang with the best of them and scores at a very high clip. With setter Emery Gonzales Emery Gonzales 5'10" | S Torrey Pines | 2027 CA feeding her the ball on a regular basis, she is definitely making a strong case for herself. Setter Gonzales shows flashes of brilliance while moving the ball around to her attackers. Jaycee Mack Jaycee Mack 6'2" | OH Torrey Pines | 2027 CA has been doing a fantastic job at the net. It doesn’t matter where she plays because she can throttle the ball at any tempo. Her range defensively is vast and she is getting so much better at attacking out of the back row. Having played out of the middle and now starring on the left, college coaches need to take notice now! Libero Sophia Wu is in the running for one of the best liberos in her grad class after I watched how she performed against solid competition. Right side Olivia Greenwood is also turning heads with her play on the opposite pin. She provides a solid scoring threat to keep the middles honest. Middle Stella Delgadillo played exceptionally well at the net and made me take notice. I cannot wait to rank the players on this team. Stay tuned to see where they fall on the State Rankings.
