Not only was Addi Waldorf a standout setter, but she was one of the most impressive kids in the gym. She made her presence known in more ways than one. To state the obvious, Waldorf’s hands are on a whole other level. Her accuracy and cleanliness of her sets show why she is the top-ranked setter in her class. But aside from setting, Waldorf never shies away from getting it done on two. Whether it’s a sneaky setter dump that no one can seem to pick up, or her deciding to just turn and swing away. No matter where Waldorf is on the court, she’s determined to get the job done.

There’s a reason why Addi Waldorf is ranked so high in her class. With the way she plays the game, you’d never guess that she is only a junior. Waldorf plays with an impressive sense of maturity that you don’t see in many setters. She did a phenomenal job making those connections with her hitters and wasn’t afraid to be an offensive threat at the net either. I am very excited to watch Addi continue to contribute to the Humboldt program these next two years.

Imagine trying to find a balance between all of Iowa Premier’s uber-athletic hitters. Fortunately, Waldorf is the right setter to solve the puzzle. She has a knack for dishing up-tempo ‘go’ sets to the pins, leading to wide attacking windows at the antennas. Better yet, Waldorf’s quickness and length make her an ideal candidate to pilot a 5-1 offense. We were treated to the full array of setter skills in Des Moines.

So much range!  Addison Waldorf Addison Waldorf 5'11" | S Humboldt | 2028 State IA of Iowa Premier 16-1 has put together quite a year.  She led Humboldt High School to a Class 4A runner up finish and has been running the show for Premier on the 16 Open courts.  What I am most impressed with is what she does when the ball is away from the net.  She could be 15-20 feet off the net and she’s going to find a way to get her hands on the ball.  She’s also not afraid to set the middle if she is pulled off to the ten foot line.  She sets a great tempo to the outside as well.  There are so many positive intangibles that are positive about her game.  She connects with her teammates, she knows how to play in big moments, and seems like the type of player that others enjoy playing alongside.
