Standout Setters at Prep Dig Sizzle

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">When you're looking at "standout setters", there are so many qualities that truly make a setter excel. For me, I don't just look for skill, but also for their leadership and ability to run an offense. I didn't get to see Grace a whole lot, especially with PV only being at day one of the event. However, I was very impressed with what I did see from the senior setter. Danielson did such an amazing job connecting with her hitter, and when there was something off, she was quick to figure it out and adjust to her hitter's preferences to the best of her ability. Not only did she do a great job with her ball placement, but she also stood out on defense. Danielson's cover game was incredibly strong, and just when you thought the ball was down, she was there to pick it up. I really hope to see more of Grace and what she can contribute to the Spartan program.     Not only was Addi Waldorf a standout setter, but she was one of the most impressive kids in the gym. She made her presence known in more ways than one. To state the obvious, Waldorf's hands are on a whole other level. Her accuracy and cleanliness of her sets show why she is the top-ranked setter in her class. But aside from setting, Waldorf never shies away from getting it done on two. Whether it's a sneaky setter dump that no one can seem to pick up, or her deciding to just turn and swing away. No matter where Waldorf is on the court, she's determined to get the job done.     Going back to what I said at the beginning of this post, I look far beyond skill when looking at setters. My favorite trait is when setters know how to run the offense, and Hinley does just that. Mast knows her role as a setter and takes it to a whole other level. The second she steps on the court, she sets the pace of the game. The senior setter knows how to keep her hitters in line and does everything in her power to help them succeed. She was doing everything in her power to put her hitters in the best position to score.     I wasn't quite sure what to expect with DePoorter stepping in as Assumption's setter. Carsyn Kelly had left some big shoes to fill, and I was curious to see how she would contribute. But Natalie did a fantastic job filling that role and has already started with her best foot forward. DePoorter did an amazing job distributing the ball and wasn't afraid to put the ball away on two either. She also did a fantastic job setting up a strong block in the front row, making it very hard for her opponents to hit around her.     If my team were in a stressful or high-stakes situation, Lexi would be the setter I'd want on the court. She does a fantastic job of keeping her team calm and collected through guidance and reassurance. Haller can contribute to her team not only as a setter, but also as a hitter. Although she's not the tallest, she plays at the net like she's the biggest one on the court. No matter the score, Haller is going to give it her all until the very end. Her leadership, energy, and team-first mentality are exactly what Jefferson needs for a successful season.     Elise is another setter from PV that we didn't see much of last year, but really stepped up to the plate at Prep Dig Sizzle. This junior setter is one that I believe could be a lethal weapon for the Spartans this year. Not only did she do a fantastic job connecting with her hitters, but she also puts up a big block and has a heavy arm on the right side. I'm not sure what PV plans to do with Kane, but I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more of her in the 2026 season.
