Rob Howe | Prep Dig Scout
Goodell began emerging during last year’s club campaign. Then, she broke out in the prep season last fall. It started with her shining during the Prep Dig Sizzle last fall and ended with a spot in the Class 3A state championship match for the first time in school history. Goodell has the tools needed at the position – bouncy off the court, a quick jumper, high vertical and growing confidence. It’s that last part that has really grown, allowing her to attack consistently with a heavy swing that will become heavier as strength is added. Quicks are a part of her game, too. She gets a good feel for the flow of the match, and what the defense is giving up. Goodell throws up an effective block utilizing keen timing and clean reads of the opposing attack. She finished her sophomore season leading the Wildcats with 307 kills (.333) and 81.0 blocks. Goodell might have already broken out, but she remains an ascending prospect packed with potential.

Goodell caught my attention when watching her competing with Six Pack during the last club campaign. An explosive athlete with leaping ability and hang time, she can get on a roll as a two-way force in the middle of the net. I noticed those traits again when scouting her and Humboldt durig the Prep Dig Sizzle in early August. Again, at the state tournament, Goodell continued elevating her game and earning all-tournament laurels after helping the Wildcats to the Class 3A championship match. Goodell finished her 10th-grade season with 307 kills (.333) and 81.0 blocks with 100 digs. She has raised her recruiting profile with her performance in 2025, and there’s plenty of room for more progress before reaching her considerable potential.

Goodell looked the part of impactful middle hitter when I scouted her during the club campaign and again at the Prep Dig Iowa Sizzle in early August. That tracked with what she accomplished as a freshman in 2024, which included 120 kills and 35.0 blocks. Goodell has picked up where she left off with 137 kills and 39.0 blocks, both marks leading the team through 20 matches. It’s been another step forward for a prospect primed with athleticism and long arms. Goodell is developing her skills, which is evidenced by her .306 hitting percentage in 2025. Colleges should already be monitoring her progress because the upside is significant.
