About Khaila

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I try to stay calm and focused in my gameplay. I am on the shorter side for an OH, so I work hard on reading the blocks and adjusting my plays. I also play beach and it definitely helps me to be strategic in my decisions. When I am playing backrow, I definitely focus on studying the opposing hitters and learning to read their hitting styleso I can adjust to where I can best dig the ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am passionate about volleyball and spend as much time as I can trying to learn more. I tend to throw myself into things I love and try all that I can. I hope to go to college for graphic design and my designs have been chosen for several events for school and Girl Scouts. I even took graphic design and drawing courses at CBU which helped me solidify my desire to pursue graphic design in college.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have been a Girl Scout since Kindergarten and have earned both my Bronze and Silver Awards. I am currently working on my Gold Award. I am very active with Girl Scouts and was selected as a member of the staff for our council's camping competition program called Junior Jam. I am also involved with student leadership at my High School as a member of the Senate program.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I recently received my Presidential Volunteer Service Award for100 hours of community service for the year, mostly through Girl Scouts. We lead events for younger girls, teaching STEM and more. I've assisted with practices for the middle school volleyball teams, and one of my favorite volunteer events each year is spending my birthday decorating floats for the Rose Parade.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would be excited to find a team that I can fit in with, wherever that may be!
