Summer Tukua is everywhere on the court, playing with a high-level volleyball IQ and an even higher standard for herself. She attacks with variety, mixing power, roll shots, and smart tips while finding ways to score from any set, in any zone, at any height. Her reads on the block are sharp, and her ability to adjust mid-rally makes her a consistent offensive threat.

What separates Summer from others in her class is her resilience. When a swing is denied by the block, she does not retreat; she fires right back, calling “Again” to her setter, eager for another chance to execute. That moment says everything about her mindset. A Division I coach watching courtside said after she crushed a back-row pipe at Nationals, “She’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Throughout the season, Summer has sharpened her timing, refined her approach footwork, and learned to channel her intensity into precise execution. She leads with her voice, her platform, and her swing, keeping her team locked in when the pressure builds. College coaches recognize that type of growth because it shows she has not peaked, that her ceiling is still rising, and that her trajectory matters as much as her current production.

COAST 15-1 Rodrigo, featuring Summer Tukua Summer Tukua 6'0" | OH/DS/L Murrieta Valley | 2028 State CA , is scheduled to face MKE Sting 15 Gold on June 26 at 9:00 AM on Court 44.

Please officially welcome Summer to the State Rankings.  She is currently ranked as the 2^nd best overall player according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings.  She plays for Murietta Valley High School and also the Coast volleyball club program.  Miss Tukua really impressed me this year as I watched her squad compete in some of the biggest tournaments of the season.  It almost seemed as if she got better when the competition got harder.  I have heard that “star players step up when the spotlight shines bright on them” and this couldn’t be more true as I watched her ball out on the big stage.  In the front row, I saw her rise up and attack with a ferocity that was unmatched by anyone near her.  In the back row, she was flying all around trying to pick up everything that came near her zone in middle back.  What was really telling about her was when her team needed a score during some crucial point in a match, she was ready and willing to be that “go to” player for them.  I love watching her celebrate with her teammates as it is truly infectious and helpful to create or keep momentum on their side of the court.  She is the true definition of a six rotation OH1 and we cannot wait to watch her get even stronger over the next few years.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot in our prestigious State Rankings.

Her powerful arm swing and confident presence stood out then, showing glimpses of the high-caliber athlete she is destined to become. Since that debut, Summer’s game has continued to evolve, with each tournament showcasing her relentless pursuit of improvement and growth – gaining the attention not only of spectators but of college coaches as well.

Summer has developed into one of the fastest-hitting 2028s I have seen, delivering attacks with a quick snap that generates impressive power. Her arm swing is fierce, making it challenging for blockers to react in time. What sets Summer apart is not just her raw power but her ability to consistently fine-tune her craft, always seeking ways to enhance her game.
