Sparkling Setters: Top Uncommitted Setters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Happy Independence Day to everyone in the Prep Dig Nation.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a “Fireworks” scouting report that you can sneak in between smashing hot dogs, watching baseball, lounging by the pool, eating homemade ice cream, or whatever else each of you do to celebrate the Fourth Of July.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Kansas Class of 2025 rankings were updated on July 2. &nbsp;The top two setters in this class have already committed to Stanford and USC, but five sparkling setters have yet to commit.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='493581' first='Bella' last='Holcomb']</strong>, 5'10”, S, Andover Central</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Holcomb's game shines like a “Rising Tail.” She is currently ranked No. 52 overall by Prep Dig. I am very familiar with her game and she has gone from sharing setting duties at Andover Central to serving as the primary setter. She is also a gifted hitter. Holcomb was patient and waited for her time to shine for the Jaguars and that unselfishness could come in handy at a four-year college. Like the rising tail effect, Holcomb's game gets brighter the higher it flies.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='493498' first='Jaidyn' last='Follis']</strong>, 5'5”, S, Beloit</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Follis is a “Bottle Rocket” of a setter. She is currently ranked No. 53 overall by Prep Dig. I recently scouted Follis and her Beloit teammates in a tournament in Abilene. She moves super quick and is a court general. She already has over 1,000 assists in her high school career. She plays on an uber-talented squad, which has helped produce her eye-popping numbers. She is currently uncommitted and would be a solid one-two recruiting punch along with her twin sister, who plays libero for Beloit.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='493422' first='Lauren' last='Heinz']</strong>, 5'7”, S, Andover</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Heinz is a spunky setter who gets explosive extensions on her sets. She is currently ranked No. 54 overall in the class of 2025. The talented Andover setter fires off crunchable sets like a “Roman Candle” shoots flaming balls. I missed getting to see Heinz play at the recent summer tournament at Butler Community College, but to my knowledge, she is still uncommitted.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='219708' first='Audrey' last='Wills']</strong>, 5'8”, S, Olathe East</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wills has been an elite setter since her freshman season at Olathe East. She is currently ranked No. 67 overall by Prep Dig. She sets like a “Jumping Jack,” but the sparks she leaves behind are orange and black. She finished with 585 assists in 90 sets last fall. She has over 1,400 career assists and three consecutive seasons of 120-plus digs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='173401' first='Dalaina' last='Schutte']</strong>, 5'9”, S, Halstead</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Schutte is a “Novelty” setter with deep skills in her arsenal. She is a six-rotation talent who can bring the pop, snap, and snake action on the court. She is currently ranked No. 70 overall and a talent I have seen play club ball. She finished her junior season with 581 assists, 173 kills, and 292 digs. While posting this report I discovered that Schutte has announced a verbal commitment to the Bethel College.
