Who earned the right to be called a Top Performer? We saw some amazing players who wanted to improve their stock. The first session was held on Saturday July 27th at the Competitive Edge Training facility in Houston, TX. The one aspect that sets our showcases apart from every other one in the country is how we offer coverage, before, during, and after it is completed. This series of articles will discuss those special players that stood out for various reasons to our court coaches and scouts. They have won our prestigious Top Performer award. Let's meet the winners!

[player_tooltip player_id='447026' first='Kaylie' last='Bourn'] [2027] 6-3 Middle/Right Side (HS: Cornerstone Christian/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Kaylie is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our official Watch List. She plays volleyball at Cornerstone Christian High School and plays for the Alamo club program. Miss Bourn has been getting better and better with each passing day she is on the court. Not all players progress at the same speed, or at all in the sport of volleyball. The three aspects that stood out to me the most while watching her compete during the showcase were that she had a super high motor that never quit when she was on the court, she has a prototypical tall frame that cannot be taught, and that she has gotten better since I last saw her. The fact that she keeps getting better is a telling sign that she is nowhere near her peak and has a very high ceiling. Her high motor is something that all college coaches will want in a middle/right side. Middles like this will always be involved in the play and be ready to attack for their setter especially during out of system plays. Blocking is the main reason why she excelled at the showcase but I was very intrigued to watch her quick hands at the net while attacking. She even saved quite a few rallies with awesome emergency techniques. The sky is the limit for this youngster and we will be watching her progress very closely and you should too! Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award.

[player_tooltip player_id='269773' first='Adrianne' last='Ryan'] [2026] 5-6 Libero (HS: Tomball/Club: MoCo Mavs/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Adrianne is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays volleyball at Tomball High School and club for the MoCo Mavs volleyball program. While we were watching her perform in the back row, I noticed how she keeps her base wide, balanced, and stopped at contact of the ball. This will ensure that she is consistent with her delivery of the ball to her setter. I loved how quickly she shuffled both feet in the direction of the ball during serve receive. This helped her keep the ball in her midline as much as possible. In the event that the ball was still slightly outside of her body, she showed great angle creation and a soft contact of the ball, which rebounded well toward target. She didn't swing her arms much at contact and this helped to keep the ball on her side of the net. Defensively she did exactly what she was asked, which was keep the ball off of the ground by any means necessary. Many times she had to pursue the ball and did so with relentless activity. We were all very pleased with her performance and happy to reward her. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award at the showcase.

Mckenzie Dearborne [2026] 5-7 Outside/Defensive Specialist (HS: Heights/Club: Houston Stellar/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Mckenzie is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays volleyball at Heights High School and also for the Houston Stellar volleyball club program. Miss Dearborne showed a great ability to adjust her footwork no matter where the set location was in order to attack with aggressiveness. What also helped her to stay aggressive was how solid her hand contact was on the ball. She made sure that she spread her hands wide to ensure that the maximum surface area was being engaged to direct the ball where she wanted to. Her court coaches remarked at her awesome ability to get her feet to the ball with speed. She was able to track down errant passes to help her squad stay in the rally and this goes well beyond the stat book. We really like what we saw ar the showcase and she earned this award. Please help us congratulate her on earning the Top Performer award for this showcase.
