About Zariyah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am extremely athletic and have great court awareness. I use my athleticism to contribute on the court as a PIN and DS. I am a leader on the court and strive for excellence. I also thrive under pressure

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a very outgoing person and emotionally intelligent. I take mistakes in stride and use it for motivation. I am a natural leader and very competitive. I try to help others around them play their best, and continually improve everyday.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in GEMS, a women’s empowerment club that provides community service and networking. I also participate in fundraising for both my club and school. I have volunteered at a local mental health organization over the past 3 years.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am a leader both on and off the court. I participate in many school activities and maintain a 4.0 GPA. My coaches have often told me that my teammates look to me as a leader, and I take that as an honor, striving to support them individually and as a team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My mother raised me as a single mother and finished college while I was a young child. She is my biggest hero. We moved 7 times before 4th grade, as she was building the foundation for our family. Now I am am the oldest of three and very proud of the family we have and have had really great experiences in each place we’ve lived.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a highly competitive athletic program, ideally D1. I’d like to attend a school with 10k+ students.

Francis can get up quickly at the net and unleash a hammer kill from her spot on the outside. Bainbridge will be in the mix for a state trophy in the 2A ranks, and her all-around performance this season will go a long way toward that goal. Francis is a natural mover on the floor; she glides into position defensively and has a solid platform in serve receive.
