Big Moments from Week 4

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Loveland Takes Down MND</em></strong><br>The Loveland Tigers remain unbeaten overall at 6-0 following a massive 3-2 win over Mount Notre Dame to hand the Cougars their first loss of the season. This was a tight match throughout as Loveland prevailed 15-11 to close out the last set. A complete team effort earned this win as it was two seniors that led the offense. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='502470' first='Abby' last='Dorn']</strong> and <strong>Sophia Loomis</strong> earned 16 and 12 kills respectively as setter, junior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='227619' first='Makenna' last='Kirlin']</strong> (*pictured), dished a match-high 46 assists to help the Tigers outhit MND 56-52 in total kills. On the defensive side, Loveland won that battle as well in digging (75-54) and blocking (21-18). Loomis led the way with seven blocks as freshman <strong>Ella George</strong> was dynamite defensively with a match-best 25 digs. Junior<strong> [player_tooltip player_id='227616' first='Josie' last='Nichols']</strong> had a great all-around match at nine kills and 15 digs as senior <strong>Adriene Reynolds</strong> also reached double-digit digs with 10. The ECC is taking notice of Loveland's success as they have established themselves as the team to beat. For MND, sophomore two-way threat <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='480817' first='Kendall' last='Hubbard']</strong> led the offense with 18 kills and 20 assists as senior pin <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='227617' first='Cara' last='Richter']</strong> added 11 kills. <strong>Chiara Brueggman</strong> had nine kills and added a team best 16 digs in the loss.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Adena Attacking Pair Dominant in Big League Win</em></strong><br>The Adena Warriors (4-2) earned a big conference win over Unioto to stay unbeaten in league play. The 3-2 contest was back and forth and these teams traded set wins entering the final frame. Adena outperformed the Shermans offensively 52-42 in total kills as a pair of Warriors were dominant in taking the majority of swings for their team. Junior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='732839' first='Katie' last='Burns']</strong> led the way with a match-high 23 kills to surprass 400 for her varsity career. The 5'11 pin's numbers are up this season as she is averaging a team high 4.8 k/s. Senior middle <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='532954' first='Corinne' last='Day']</strong> also reached 20 kills and is outperforming her 2023 numbers as well at 3.2 k/s. Sophomore <strong>Kortney Sowers</strong> led Adena with 27 assists as<strong> Kimmy Dalton</strong> and <strong>Jacey Smith</strong> picked up 22 and 20 digs respectively. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Hudson Duo Provides Huge Offense in Win over Twinsburg</em></strong><br>Senior middle <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='445126' first='Sophia' last='Skidmore']</strong> had a big match for the Explorers as she terminated 28 kills in the 3-2 victory over the Tigers. Teammate <strong>Maddy Dearstine</strong> added 21 kills on a .349 efficiency to provide the bulk of the offense. These two are putting up career-best numbers in 2024 as Skidmore is earning 5.1 k/s in the most significant offensive role she has played in her varsity career. She should surpass her 2023 total offensive output this coming week. Dearstine makes the move from libero to become a significant part of Hudson's offense. She is providing 3.2 k/s while her defensive numbers are up at nearly 12 digs per match. These two also led the defense as Skidmore picked up a team best 26 digs and Dearstine added 21. It is a sophomore providing the floor leadership as <strong>Maribeth Slater</strong> distributed 47 assists, establishing a new career high. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
