What Wisconsin Athletes Are In Their "Demure Fall Era"?

As a high school coach and high school volleyball scout I am often intertwined in "Gen Z" slang and lingo. As a "Millenial" and someone who has a phone screen in front of them way too much, I'd like to think I can pick up on a few things in pop culture here and there. However, if a millenial is using phrases like "Demure", then its definitely not cool anymore. "Demure" to my knowledge is having a "Demure Summer" where we're just being mindful and modest. The athletes listed below are having are having big seasons so far for their high school squads, but they might not be the most well known to the rest of the state. They are in their "Demure Fall Era". They may be modest, but their performances are not - they are thriving. Here are the athletes who are in their "Demure Fall Era".    The UW Milwaukee commit currently leads the state in total kills with 286, averaging just over five kills per set for Lakeside Lutheran where she recently surpassed 1,000 career kills. Scheutz has all the shots in the book where she can go cross, line, roll, and she does a really nice job of using the block. She is able to mix things up and find what the defense is giving her (which typically isn't much). Aside from her high level offensive game, she is a really steady and lethal defender where she is so consistent in serve receive as well. I think her game could translate really well to the Horizon League where she doesn't have much of a weakness.       Another athlete who has surpassed the 1,000 kill mark is Oconto Falls senior [player_tooltip player_id='202162' first='Amber' last='Otto']. Otto has been a key piece to a surging progam that is ranked in the top ten of D2 and will be in the hunt to play some big matches in late October. Otto is averaging nearly five kills per set so far in her senior year for the Panthers who are 13-6 so far this season. She is not the only Otto on the roster where there is [player_tooltip player_id='724541' first='Izzy' last='Otto'] who is averaging over nine assists per set and her mom Rochelle Otto is the head coach. They will have a huge NEC match next week when they take on top ranked in D2 Luxemburg-Casco.       Another team to keep tabs on in D2 is Mosinee who is extremely balanced and is led by senior setter Lisa Maurer. She is leading the state in total assists with over 450 total, nearly nine per set. Her team is currently 13-8 so far this season and is 2-0 in conference play. One of Maurer's top targets is sophomore attacker [player_tooltip player_id='435884' first='Bridget' last='Frye'] who already has over 200 kills this season. Maurer will be on track to surpass 1,000 assists this season.       Another top D2 setter is [player_tooltip player_id='284079' first='Alayna' last='Deprez'] who is the QB of number one ranked Luxemburg-Casco. Great teams do not have average setters. They need setters who can lead through example and with their voice and it is apparent that Deprez is floor general for the Spartans. She has surpassed 2,000 career assists and is only a junior. LC is 13-3 this season with their only losses coming at the hands of D1 opponents. They will be heading to the Charger Challenge hosted by Sussex Hamilton at the [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] Center this weekend that is loaded with top talent from across the state.       Heritage Christian is off to a 16-6 start and as a D4 school, they have faced some tough competition from D1 and D2 schools. The quarterback of this offense and one of their top servers is [player_tooltip player_id='284066' first='Ainsley' last='Ellis'] who has over 1600 assists in her career and is averaging nearly eight assists per game. The Patriots have only one senior on the roster and have a strong core of underclassmen where their top attacker is junior [player_tooltip player_id='284071' first='Chelsea' last='Poskocil'] who is averaging over four kills per set.       There is just something different about [player_tooltip player_id='388556' first='Macy' last='Kline'] with her ability to command a backrow. The libero from Holmen is one of the best in the state when it comes to collecting digs where she is averaging nearly five per set. She has plenty of length and IQ to cover a large area of the court where she is one the other side is going to try and avoid serving to. She has been part of the Badger Region All Star teams and is currently a junior for the Vikings who are 12-6 on the season.       Oshkosh West is off to a fast start, they are going to be dangerous all season where they are currently 19-4. One of their key players is junior [player_tooltip player_id='487007' first='Elaina' last='Butz'] who is averaging over four digs per set. Butz has a physical, athletic style for the Wildcats where she anticipates well, can handle a high volume of serve receive, and can keep her side of the net in system. Another athlete to know on this team is senior [player_tooltip player_id='522599' first='Kirsten' last='Klatt'] who has over 40 blocks so far this season. Her presence is well known on the front line. They have a big upcoming match against perennial FVA power Kimberly tonight.       Hudson is off to a 20-0 start and is ranked in the top ten of Division 1. They have a cupboard full of lethal attackers that include [player_tooltip player_id='181197' first='Jana' last='Jankowski'], [player_tooltip player_id='783410' first='Libby' last='Bartz'], Hannah Kendhammer, and [player_tooltip player_id='571376' first='Addison' last='Leach']. The one who is a triple double machine who can rack up the kills, assits, and digs is senior [player_tooltip player_id='285234' first='Ellie' last='Burns']. She has over 100 kills, 250 digs, and 100 digs. She is on track to have over 1500 assists and 500 kills in her career. She is committed to Southeast Missouri State and has been a key piece to Northern Lights, one of the top clubs in the country our of the Twin Cities.
