About Wakelea

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Aggressive middle who is skilled offensively and likes to have an impact. Plays with a lot of energy and passion, and is willing to do anything to help her team win. Developing into an outside hitter this season as well.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Extremely competitive with a high motor and infectious personality. Wakelea likes to have fun and loves the game, but is also driven and serious about achieving her and her team's goals.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Competes at a national level in crew (rowing) as well.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

She regularly volunteers at our local food bank and serves at Church.

Barkema works hard to get herself into good offensive situations. Her footwork and timing are continuing to improve and when she develops the right space off the net and around her setter, she can take a healthy swing with an aggressive arm. It will be fun to see what she can accomplish through her upcoming 16U season with SIVBC.
