The Iowa City High setter has been fun to follow in her journey.  Another left handed setter, Schluckebier has been able to swing on the right side or run a 5-1.  Athletes like this just bring another dimension to their team where she has seen success for this Iowa Rockets squad.  Another athlete she’s played club with is Kylee Suhr Kylee Suhr 6'1" | MB/OH Williamsburg | 2028 State IA who is an emerging attacker out of the front row playing out of the middle or the pin. 

Setters and liberos have a narrower path to college because there are limited rosters spots compared to the attackers. It can slow the recruiting process for players at those positions. Fear not, however, as the good ones eventually find college homes. Schluckebier is a good one with the potential to be much better as she continues adding to her game. She’s worked hard to make herself a complete volleyballer. Schluckebier gets to her spots and consistently delivers the ball to where her attackers can put it away. She’s improved her defense at the net and in the back row. Schluckebier holds up well in serve-receive. Her lefty swing can end points and exploiting holes in the opposing defense is a regular occurrence.

Schluckebier didn’t rest on her laurels after experiencing success at a young age, which included taking over a Class 5A program’s starting setter duties as a freshman. She’s worked hard on improving her skills, expanding her game and becoming a continually improving overall volleyball player. The Iowa City High junior and Rockets floor leader controls the action at the net with precise passes and good decisions. There’s consistency and reliability on which attackers can rely and use to get into a rhythm. Schluckebier is a developing attacker with increasing power in the lefty swing to complement a great feel for exposing holes in the middle of the defense with well-placed donut dumps. Her block is getting better as is her proficiency in the back row. She’s another kid that will reward a college providing an opportunity.
