Suhr is one of the state’s most improved middle blockers and players in Iowa’s 2028 Class during the last year. She got the ball rolling on that progress as a Williamsburg sophomore, when she registered 225 kills (.264) and 63.0 blocks with 94 digs in 82 sets. Suhr continued her rise during this past club campaign with Rockets 16R. During scouting opportunities throughout the year, she impacted matches with a mighty swing, putting the ball down on a regular basis. Suhr is seeing the court more clearly these days, allowing to maximize power in getting through the opposing block or working around it. Long arms, a big vertical and keen timing lead to Suhr defending the net at a high level. Openings for opponents are limited. There’s plenty of room for more growth here, which should make whichever college she attends very happy.

Kylee Suhr has been “Suhr”ging up the board in the Class of 2028. She has been a standout for Iowa Rockets 16R this club season where her hangtime is just different out of the middle. She has shown she can be dynamic in how she scores points as well as being a force defensively. The athleticism and physicality will be exciting as she continues to progress and will be a steal at the next level.

is one who will be rising in the Class of 2028 as a middle blocker. She plays much bigger than 6’0 where she finds a way to elevate to another level. She is able to score on a variety of tempos in front of and behind the setter. She also knows where to find the open spots on the other side and is a point scoring machine. If Rockets can be in system and get the ball to Suhr they will be tough to stop.

I wasn’t able to find any new footage of Suhr from the current club season. That’s OK. I’ve scouted her Rockets team in person twice this year. In-person viewing at the M1 Rochester Elite Scrimmages and the Iowa Invitational revealed a student-athlete that’s steadily improving, one that took a noticeable step forward from when I watched her early last season at Williamsburg. Suhr is an impactful two-way player in the middle of the net. She explodes off of the court and elevates well above the net. From there, she generates power in her swing and good vision locates where the defense is vulnerable. Suhr shows excellent timing and reads when throwing up the block. She’s technically sound in all aspects of the position.

Suhr’s contact point was nearly unrivaled in Des Moines’ Heartland Event Center. The high-flying sophomore switched things up throughout our Iowa Exposure Tour, scoring in front of the setter or on the right side. Length, physicality, and power are all traits we’ve come to associate with some of Iowa Rockets ‘ best athletes, regardless of position. Suhr brings that entire triad with a bit of positional versatility to boot.

Our all-showcase team is loading up in the middle, but you could also slot Suhr into either pin spot, too. Her effortless elevation and snappy arm swing paid dividends throughout her Exposure Tour stay. Suhr has the rare ability to get on top of the ball quickly despite being one of the longest athletes in the gym. This presented some nightmare matchups in Des Moines, and Suhr was eager to capitalize.
