About Izzy

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am the voice on and off the court from calling hits or serve receive paths. I like to be the positive voice - lifting teammates up on the small wins on the court, to help lead us to a bigger win as a team. A coach once told me that a team is only as strong as it's weakest player, so I strive to learn new skills & work with my hitter connections - so that I am best player I can be for my team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

2 years ago, I decided to try out for the high school hockey team. I had never worn a pair of hockey skates, but I was a competitive figure skater for 10 years, so there was a toe pick adjustment, but I earned the Most Improved Player as a freshman that year. When I put my mind to a sport, I want to learn everything I can about it and strive to be the best teammate that I can be.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I play high school hockey for the St Cloud Crush and golf on the varsity Cathedral team. I am actively involved in my youth group organization at church as well as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars for my academic achievements.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed better communication skills on and off the court. My passion for volleyball lead me to volunteer with the Crusader Youth Sports and work with our elementary students to learn the sport. I was voted senior captain for volleyball as the only junior on Varsity last season & am looking forward to setting up team bonding now to ensure everyone feels a part of the team next season.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I tore my ACL playing basketball in December 2021, which ended my club volleyball season. Sitting out for 9 months was such a challenge, but it taught me how to be a better teammate from the bench.
