PrepDig Chi-Town Classic: 15U Day 1 Show Stoppers!

PrepDig Chi-Town started off with a bang at the Top Flight facility. Teams from across the region came to showcase their stuff. I love covering the 15s teams and saw some players that have I have been following for a while and others that were new to me. Lot of talent on the courts. I have been a big fan of Hoel since I watched her play in a preseason scrimmage in Wisconsin Dells. Since then I have followed her season closely and kept tabs on this young outside. When I watched her play on Day 1, I was immediately struck with her growth. Her approach was even more explosive. She had some huge rips that left opponents stunned. I was also impressed with the development of her cut shot and the the big out of system swing that have really come along. Keep grinding kid. You're turning heads.     I have not seen Glaeser play before this weekend and was very impressed with her abilities. I was immediately struck by her quickness. She covered tremendous ground, came up with some huge saves, ran threw the short balls, and positioned herself effectively to come up with some big digs. Glaeser also has a good float serve. Her serve has that crazy lefty movement on it that proved cumbersome for many teams. While I didn't keep stats, I wouldn't be surprised if she led the tournament with aces on the weekend.     Parker is a 6 rotation outside with a ton of potential. She has a solid “all around” game, performing well in both offense and defense. Parker transitions well off the net, has a quick approach, and a fast arm swing. She also moves swiftly on defense, putting up an effective block and moving efficiently to pick up tips and dumps while playing off blocker defense. It's clear that Parker is one of the go-to players on her team. She handles pressure in stride.     Poole was a beast in the middle on Day 1. She has a good foundation of footwork and moves efficiently from side to side to be a force at the net. She got numerous block touches and stopped other attackers all together. Poole is also highly effective on the offense end. She has a big reach and was able to go around the block to score points repeatedly. Poole is one that I threw on my list to keep track of in the class of 2028 as I think she is just getting started.     Ockrim is a 6 rotation outside that was a driving force behind her team's 3-0 finish on Day 1. She is one of those players that is smart about her shots selection. She knows when to take big swings and also when to use one of her well placed, off speed shots. She also took some big swings out of the backrow. Essentially, Ockrim swung and racked up points all over the courts.     Kinley was fun to watch on Day 1 as her and her team dominated the courts. A 6 rotation outside, Kinley is a leader on the court and will do whatever is needed to help her team win. The level of control she plays with at such a young age is especially noteworthy. She was methodical on serve receive and passing, keeping her team in system so they could run an effective offense. She made smart offensive plays on the court, knowing when to take big swings and when pushes or tips are the most appropriate.
