PrepDig Chi-Town Classic: Final Shout-Outs and Tournament Gems

These are players that made it into my notes app for one reason or another or are players that when I reflect back on the weekend, did some really cool stuff. This 6 rotation outside can do a lot of everything. She was solid in passing, serving, and can unleash some big attacks from the front and back court. As a setter, she moves quickly to get to the ball and delivers clean, hittable balls to her pins. I thought she also did an exceptional job playing right back defense. She is a workhorse as a middle with crazy endurance that never tires or gives up on a play or rally. She reads well, moves efficiently from side to side to close blocks or get block touches. She also has a lightening fast arm swing that lets her put down balls to both corners of the court. She transitions off the net quickly, tracks the ball well, and does a solid job reading the block in front of her. For her young age, Jelcic does a solid job reacting and getting her feet to the ball to ensure she delivers a clean set. I was most impressed with her sets to the pins. She does a solid job leading her attackers and pushes the ball to the pin with tempo. I watched this dynamic outside for a while this weekend and was impressed with not only her vertical but her ability to explode to the pin, read the block in front of her, and alter her shot to go cross or line. She also puts up a big block herself. She reads the ball and uses that big vertical to go up and stop attackers in their tracks. I saw her play earlier in the club season in Rockford and she continues to impress. She has an explosive approach and quick arm swing that generate kills repeatedly, however, what I was most impressed with is her is her ability to be especially terminal on out of system swings and when transitioning off the pass. Arnott is also solid on defense. Battling their way to the championship, Baughman is the glue for this well functioning Blaze team. She does a great job reading the floor, getting all of her attackers involved, and feeding them the sets that they need to be successful. She also mixes up the offense well so defenders can't cheat and camp out on one attacker. Baughman is also a great defender. She made countless digs and saves on the weekend.
